This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
I hope everyones hospital visits went ok.
Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, I expect DGS will be up soon.
DW is empty & there is no washing to do.
Familly BBQ later for hubby's nephew who is 18 & then a visit to MIL who is hanging on in there, with regular visits from Macmillan, she's coping better than FIL, but then we knew that would be the case.
DD1 emptied her Nan's house, it was an exhausting & emotional day for everyone involved. As usual my ex is doing nothing apart from bemoaning the fact that he will get no inheritance as the house is being sold to pay for his mothers care.
The garden is keeping us supplied with salad & other veg, we have fruit on the trees too, apples & pears.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
:hello:Good morning Hester, thank you for getting us going.
Looks to be a nice day, so our bed stripped and just finishing in the WM, and will do DGD when she wakes.
We had all 3 grandchildren for roast dinner last night and Himself took the 2 younger ones home about 9.30. They don't see enough of their older sister so I try to arrange a get together fairly frequently. I love to hear them laughing together, they haven't had an easy life but they are wonderful young people and we are so proud of them.
We are popping to the supermarket for a few bits in a while, and dropping DGD1 off at the hairdressers and then the day is our own. I have a little bit of ironing from yesterday and the bed linen from today.
Have a good weekend all, and hopefully we will see Lyn back on line and hear about her adventures.
Judi if you are reading:hello: I miss hearing about the Baby House, take care of yourself

HH, glad you survived yesterday!
TA - Hope everything was ok yesterday.
Sounds like a lovely get together candlelight.
Yesterday was busy, visit to the sofa place to change the address DDs sofa will be delivered to as she doesn't have the keys yet, collected a rug from BHS that I ordered in the sale, dropped something off at a friends, stopped at Costc0 for toothbrush heads, went to Dunblane for a nosey at a very good charity shop, then lunch at a favourite restaurant. Unfortunately said restaurant has changed hands and although still nice, not as good as before and much more expensive so probably wont be going again.
Went into Stirling for a wander and got a pair of short pjs from Primani for £3, DD got a tall lantern and 2 lamps from TKMacs that were reduced as they were wobbly, but I've fixed them! Quick trip to SM on the way home and got back about 6.30. I was exhausted but so glad to be out all day and away from the plastering, etc.
Not much planned for today, hopefully it wont rain as much as yesterday and I can get some washing out.
May go to the cinema later as there is a film I would like to see.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Camelot, I don't know how you cope with all the dust and mess, but it sounds as though it will be well worth it when the house is finished. You won't know yourself when all the work is done.
I think you should show us a photograph when you are straight
:):)
Enjoy the cinema, DGD1 went to see the latest Mission Impossible the other evening and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Morning everyone.
Looks bright outside and the rain has stopped.
I do want to get out today whilst the weather is dry, I hate being cooped up. Think I'll head up Loch Awe again. OH still doing his tour of steam fairs (sigh) so it's just me again. I should be putting a wash on but won't, think the bed linen will have to wait to get changed until nearer next weekend. I want to come home to clean bedding.
Next week will be a bit packed with stuff to do before the trip, doctors, Physio, work etc. I've put a list up on the chalkboard so I don't forget anything.
Right off for breakfast. Hope Saturday is good for everyone.0 -
Morning one and all. The weather looks undecided at the moment so I may postpone the bedding wash until tomorrow as the forecast is better. SK size is the devil itself to dry indoors.
What with looking after the DGDs early in the week, the LONG shopping trip in Leeds midweek and the two days of scans and tests at St James Thursday and Friday, no housework has been done all week. So that is this morning's job! Such joy!
No hospital visit now until the 14th when we see Mr TA's consultant for the results and treatment. It's looking like radiotherapy but could change to chemo, depending whether the Octreotide scans show any further growth. It's a big worry for us all but, hard as it is, we are trying not to dwell on it until the time comes.
I haven't even had chance to do any shopping this week either but, considering we have hardly been here, I don't think I need to! There are just odd things we need so might pop in town later to get those and should last then till next week's shop. Anyway, we've spent a small fortune this week on train fares and taxis to the station so need to rein in on spending a bit!
We have a few day's peace in store as DD and DGDs have gone to the caravan until midweek and we are not needed for minding until Thursday night/Friday. DS and GF and her boys are setting off for Haven today. Heaven, just ourselves to think about for a change.
Have a good day all, ((((((HUGS)))))) to those in need and take care whatever you are up to xx
ps CANDLELIGHT - my specs order at As*a was put through on Wednesday when the lab finally answered, so just hope this time I am happy with them! Meanwhile I am still wandering about like Blind Pew in my old specs!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Just read the forecast for here and it's going to rain at about 10o'clock and then continue pretty much all week.
Such a miserable summer.
TA - good to read that you survived your busy week, fingers crossed for the results.
I just logged on again to have the mini rant about the blooming awful weather. Sorry.0 -
Slightly better weather forecast here today,in fact not too bad at the moment .My 'Ben Box' got my DGS to take back to Uni next month is looking fairly full at the moment, so last nights trip to Lidls was well worth the effort.I had a £5.00 voucher off £40.00 shop so managed to get loads of things for him which will stock up his food cupboard for him, mainly basics of tinned stuff and pasta and rice etc,but it stops me worrying about if he has enough to eat

Today I am having the day off from everything I have a boxed set of DVds that my eldest DGS Danny loaned to me so i shall be sitting down ,knitting and watching them today as he is sure to ask what I thought of them.
Next Saturday Danny and I are going to see the Frank Sinatra show at the London Palladium then out for a meal afterwards. He is great company, and as he works quite long hours in the city I don't see as much of him as I used to , but we love to have a nice day out now and again Bless him there maybe 50 years between us but we do get on so well together, and spend hours putting the world to right when we get together.Grannies and grandchildren seem to have an affinity at times
:):),well my ones do.
Only two more weeks until our holidays ,hopefully the weather will be good to us.
Hope everyone has a great weekend what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning all,
Nice day here again I have a large towel load in the wm and will hang out later on. Just gone to get my breakfast and we have n bread, so will need to get a small top up shop later on, I did not do a main shop this week so will need a few bits.
Got to give the house a good clean through today. I am considering getting a cleaner, I am now out of the house between 8 and 5.30 at least 5 days a week if not more and I am struggling with the housework, I am too tired when I get in at night and I seem to spend most of my Saturday catching up, my mum has a cleaner so I will see how much she is. It would certainly take a weight off my mind.
Not sure about dinner tonight but there is some gammon steaks and some duck eggs so might do that with some wedges.
Ok better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning, the sun is struggling to come through. We normally would not be up as early on Saturday but we are expecting the chap to come and replace the rotten, or non existant, slats on the coal shed.
No laundry today, so may spend an hour in the garden putting more plants on the herbaceous bed for OH to put in. He is bowling this afternoon so I will have a quiet afternoon to myself.
Must remember to get the pork out for tomorrow, otherwise it will still be frozen, also I need to get the fruit out from tomorrows Sunday breakfast.
I don't know how but one of those tiny fruit flies has got in under the screen on my laptop and expired!! its only tiny, I could see it last night but no idea how to get it out.0
