Morning DFW-Jedis,
I'm going to add to this list as I do each thing today. Otherwise I think I risk writing a long list and doing none of it. :rotfl: I need to get my list cleared in preparation for a hectic week ahead. I will not get distracted by Facebook or DVDs.
Nillionaire Month Two:
:grinheart Found gold earring OH had accidentally knocked off the dresser before it got hoovered up. Stored safely away in jewellery box. Cleaned under all bedroom furniture which I was at it.
:grinheart Updated free AVG virus protection to latest version.
:grinheart OH harvested a patio tub of home-grown potatoes and onions.
:grinheart Charge mobile phones and Kindles. Have been using a free Android App called "Battery 100% Alarm" by Appeteria. I recommend this App. It sounds an alarm when your gadget is fully charged. This saves you wasting electricity and time when your phone goes into "trickle charge" mode. You can choose a gentle alarm call so you don't get a fright when it goes off! (Link) I'm sure there is an App for iPhones too.
:grinheart Washed bedroom floor using half a cap of Flash and boiling water from the kettle left over from making coffee.
:grinheart Finished cleaning and de-cluttering the Study, particularly the computer desk-shelving unit. Found some buried treasure: an unfinished Sudoku puzzle book, three unused notepads. One carrier bag of paper has gone into the recycling. We don't need to buy anything at all except for some UHU glue which I use a lot for repairs.
:grinheart OH blagged some rhubarb from neighbour in return for trimming one of her bushes.
:grinheart Cleaned kitchen, bathroom and sitting room with Stardrops and washable cloths.
:grinheart Printed last week's payslip.
:grinheart Checked Nectar Points balance and how much Tesco Clubcard vouchers we're getting soon.
:grinheart Checked online banking and updated Finances Spreadsheet.
:grinheart De-cluttered laptop.
:grinheart Ran free AVG virus-checker, Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragment.
:grinheart Cleared emails.
Finally! The list is done. Late entry:
:grinheart Using rechargeable batteries.

Afternoon all

Bob, sorry your son had a bad night
Bloomin cat
Princess, your time will come. We didn't have the funds to buy our little house till we were in our 50s. Not true all you read in the papers about so called baby boomers!
Foxgloves, I love hearing about your garden, well gardens full stop really
Went to a car boot this morning, and got some bits for my sales unit, but aside from business spends, I only bought some potatoes for 50p, and 2 unused looking tupperware storage cannisters for £2
I have quite a collection of these, which I use in my larder for storing foodstuffs. I use blackboard labels on them, which can be washed off and rewritten when I want to change the contents
Other than that, my list for today:
Record business spends in my ledger, also caught up with a bit of other paperwork that has been lurking around Done
Picked fresh lettuce for lunch
These were grown in an old recycling box which I found dumped. Done
Pick sweet peas (free flowers and air fresheners :rotfl:)
Pick French beans
Water everything that needs it
Weeding
Cook a chicken for dinner (and leftovers)
Put away the items I bought for resale
Descale kettle
Post another birthday card
Stick to diet, ok so far
Nice relaxed day! Hope you are all enjoying the weekend

I washed the car and hoovered it out, eBayed a few bits, and am drinking water whilst listening to the football rather than going out and buying a few beers.0

Hello again, Sunday Savers,
Didn't think I'd got enough money-saving things today for posting, but when I went through everything we've done in my head, there were actually a few, so here goes:
*Used one of the free part-baked baguettes from yesterday's Co-op goody-bag for Quorn sausage cobs for breakfast.
*Successful trip to 'Go Outdoors' to obtain a replacement on a camping item which broke the first night we used it. No quibbling. Replacement sorted & packed away with the rest of our camping kit. Resisted further purchases, despite their sale being pretty good.
*Called at garden centre on way home for coffee & made sure that was all we had. Sneakily ate small diet-proof snack I'd brought with me instead of being tempted by cakes.
*Bought a packet of dwarf french bean seeds, as Monty Don said in 'G's W' on Friday that this is the absolute last week to sow them for a late crop. Only 89p, so nothing really lost if they fail, & some nice early October beans if they succeed.
*Paid another 50p piece into my sealed pot.
*Watered & fed veggies, cleared a space & sowed beans, picked a few tomatoes, courgettes, an aubergine & a big bundle of rhubarb while mr f dug a basket of potatoes.
*Sorted out 2 multiple item postage invoices for my ebay sales - one of which was so complicated, my head nearly exploded. Made a start on the wrapping. Re-listed the 13 unsold items. mr f has inexplicably been sent another 100 free listings.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Every spare five mins today is being spent re-knitting the section of knitting I pulled out yesterday. It's growing really well. (Free garment).
*Will shortly be rounding up laundry for a cheap overnight wash on Economy 7.
So, there were a few money saving bits & pieces after all.
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Thanks Dawn - he knows he's done wrong as I haven't seen him all day.
That was interesting about what you said about buying your house later on. Did they give you a hard time about mortgages?
Ally- wow your house just keeps turning up treasure doesn't it. Goes to show how worthwhile decluttering is.
Well done ByJimini I'm sure your head will thank you in the morning as well as your wallet.
Foxgloves - shockingly am still to try Quorn.
Not a NSD as we needed some items. OH had worn his day shoes into the ground so now he's been paid we bought him another pair of Karimor walking shoes that are lovely and sturdy. Reduced from £69 to £35 in Sports Direct.
Also needed more Calpol. And I took my top back to Mr S as it didn't fit and they didn't have the next size up. But the upside was we got another stacking box to store clothes in and some socks instead. Most of ours had holes.
Spent the afternoon attacking the front garden weeding. It was very hot so I covered up with a hat and thin scarf around my neck. OH came to help too and cut back a few of the thorny bushes. It does look better for it.
Was planning to do shepards pie for dinner but it is incredibly hot so made home made potato salad using the free neighbour potatoes, & we used up some YS ham, salads etc.
Everyone is tired here so don't think it will be a late night.

I know what you mean and everytime I go near eBay they have changed the interface. It's a constant battle to avoid being 'conned' out of cash when listing.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
