Refused Argos store card

Hi. Does anyone know what criteria Argos look for when deciding whether to approve/decline an application for a store card? I was refused but they gave no indication at all as to why not. They just said at this time..... But do try again later and it may be a different result (not in their actual words). I just don't know where to start improving it so I am more appealing to them if I apply in future. Do they check electoral role etc? Initially they give you a list of things they look for which I met but they refused anyway.
Thanks for any genuine advice anyone can give me.

They use lots of criteria and the electoral roll is probably one of the most important. Have you checked your credit file with all 3 agencies ?0

No one on here knows the criteria, be a bit pointless if Argos made the criteria for acceptance known.
Yes I bet they would check the electoral roll.0 -

I am in the process of building a credit history at the moment as i hardly have any, i have already applied for a capital one card and been accepted but thought i would try the argos card and add that to my credit history building, i did it online and never thought for a minute i would be accepted but had an instant decision online and it was a yes, i am currently not on the electoral roll but i have applied to be, just waiting for the files to be updated with the information, so it shows you can be accepted for this card without being on there.0

worked there for a short time, electroll was a big one, landline but these were not major killers. Tv first purchase, job statusDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Argos seem to have strange criteria.
They accepted someone I know who openly talks about their poor credit and DMP, yet declined somebody else who has perfect credit and never missed any payments to debt.0
