Faulty goods damaged my furniture

I know this will post will make some of you say 'get a life lol' but I am devastated and would like some sympathetic advice please 😓
I have always used this particular perfume and never encountered any problems in the past. But recently I purchased another bottle from Debenhams for £82 and it has a faulty spray. I used it for the first time and replaced the bottle on my new dressing table and the following day when I went to use it again it was all wet around the base and when I lifted it the paintwork was stripped bare. I have never had this problem ever in the past but this bottle has a definite fault and has ruined my dressing table that cost over £400.
As I bought it in Debenhams and it is a concession within the store who do I complain to and any advice please?
Thank you

I would take the matter up with debenhams in the first instance as you can at least go and talk to a manager. If they try backing out of responsibility because it is a concession then point out that the receipt has Debenhams written all over it, not the name of the cosmetic brand, and on your bank/card statement.
As an aside you should never keep perfume out on a dressing table as sunlight speeds up its deterioration.0 -
If the perfume has removed the paintwork from your dressing table, what the **** does it do to your skin?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Dry it out a little bit?
It'll be the alcohol that damaged the paint, it's not particularly problematic on skin.0 -

The oils will also strip paint.
Perhaps Lincroft could experiment - pouring aftershave, eau de toilette, eau de parfum and pure perfume on a painted surface - and report back what damage was caused by each variant. He might also like to report what his partners response was to both the damage and pong
