Lush shampoo bars

Has anyone used these and find them ok? I'm tempted but not sure about a bar of shampoo.

I have tried a couple and they don't work on my hair at all. My hair is fine and prone to greasiness and I ended up with really flat limp hair. It's a shame as I would love to use these when travelling.

I tried but wasn't convinced - didn't leave my hair very manageable or my scalp very happy. I went back to taking small bottles away with me.

The shampoo tins are quite handy for storing cotton wool pads in for taking away on trips though!

I have been using these for a while as I am travelling.

There are solid shampoo bars other than lushes on ebay, amazon and online.

My friend has curly, dry hair and loves braziliant, trichlomania is good for dandruffl. Some people may find them a little harsh but I have fine straight hair and wash mine every other day with no problems.

I use one of their tins and leave the tin open to dry out the bar before packing it in my soap bag as the bars can disintegrate if wet for long periods of time.

They will send 1/4 bars as samples if you ask nicely or place an online order :)

I haven't used Lush ones but when I go travelling I buy handmade ones from Ebay. I've had trouble in the past with them leaving my hair really greasy, but the clearish ones are fine.

I've just ordered this one for my next holiday, hopefully tea tree and mint will keep insects away.

I have been using them for a few years now and find that some of the shampoos suit my hair but others really don't. (I have fine hair and like the Karma green one.) The last member of staff I spoke to in Lush seemed used to this and very clear that based on the one my hair likes I would get on with a specific two of the others but not all of them so it might be worth asking them about your hair or as oldestgnome says trying to get samples.

They do dissolve if left wet - mine last much longer since I got a really good drainer to put it on after use.

I have hair that is prone to being greasy and the mint bar worked great for me. We take one camping with us and it is great for travelling :D

I had a look around Lush and saw the shampoo bars only a few days ago and have seen there are a few new bars which were not actually listed as "new" so either they've been out a while or they have just stopped listing new things.

Two of the bars were new to me and looked really worth trying as they were less about being harsh and more about putting stuff back into your hair (be it protein or oils). I'm not sure how that works with cleansing though but can't see how the bars wouldn't work without a degree of lather involved which in itself would usually be good for cleaning- I'd love to try them but I shower mainly at the gym so wouldn't want to risk not getting them home in one piece -even if I had cases for them (Lush don't sell the cases anymore from what I understand.

I do rate their bottled conditioners though- expensive but they do a good job and smell great but wish the scents would stay around more than a few hours. I wasn't so impressed with the bottled shampoos though as they were not suitable for very damaged hair. They did smell great though- especially the honey and the rehab

I use the lush round one (blue/aqua coloured) It lathers up really well and leaves hair feeling soft and conditioned, the downside is, if your hair is coloured(be it permanent or semi) over a couple of washes it strips the colour out (or at least it does on mine) I have also tried some from amazon(traditional like soap bars) which cleans ok but pre drying hair leaves it feeling quite rough and dry(although vinegar rinse helps to condition)

I use the green one (can't remember the name) when I go on holiday only as it saves space in the "liquids only" bag. As others have said they need to dry thoroughly between uses. My hair is curly and fine and I don't have any problems with it, but can't use the solid conditioner at all. A lot of the issues people have is with how to use the bar. I'm used to soft water and find that it would lather up more here than it does on holiday. The technique the shop recommended is to wet the hair then rub the shampoo over the hair and then massage. The bars are supposed to have fewer chemicals so maybe that accounts for the lack of lather. In any case my hair is always clean and fresh after using it and these days I don't take conditioner but pack a small jar of coconut oil instead - does the trick nicely!
    Looking ahead
