TNC Legal text message and phone calls

Hi,

I'm posting in here in hopes that this is the right place. I've seen a few threads about TNC Legal and figured I'd post here and if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction.

Long story short - I was accepted for a job to work for Stagecoach. Before I could start training I had to have a medical. I travelled to this medical in my own car. Saw some doctor in a cabin which was at one of their depots, he asked me to cough, asked if I was crazy and then sent me on my way.

I did one days training - this same day I was offered another job in computing (my field, don't ask why I went to Stagecoach) and I took that. I quit Stagecoach the next day. They told me I would have to pay my medical bill. 70+ quid.

A month later I received a letter from Stagecoach saying I owed this money and if I didn't then it would be passed onto a debt collection agency. Because I had started a new job I had to wait about 6/7 weeks until I got paid. I e-mailed the person at Stagecoach who sent me the letter, telling her that I don't get paid until the 26th June will I be OK to pay then, but I heard nothing back from her until after I received a text message from TNC Legal saying I owe money.

Basically, since about April I've received 1 text message from TNC Legal saying I owe them money. Foolishly I called them and asked them if I was OK to pay when I get paid. They said yes. Then after that I started thinking -"Who are these people?! I've not had a letter or anything from Stagecoach or TNC Legal".

I've had 1 text and 3 phone calls/voice messages. I've received no letters.

I suppose the question I'm asking is - do I have to pay? Are they breaking the law in chasing me for money when I've received no letter from them? Are they a waste of time and I should discard anything I receive from them?

Any help would be great.

Also, I'm in the process of house/mortgage hunting - I don't want this affecting my credit.

Many thanks,
Nick

I've no idea, but I'll ask the question: Did you sign any bit of paper with terms and conditions on, that stated you would agree to pay them £70 if you didn't take up a job with them?

Have they produced a copy of this signed bit of paper at any point?

I can't see them being able to affect your credit rating without taking you to court, them winning, and then you still refusing to pay.

Because when I've done a search for TNC Legal they all came under this section. I'm glad you took the time out to post this helpful comment. Much appreciated. :T

As I said above - TNC Legal have only shown up in Parking Tickets, Fines and Parking, and the last time I checked the sub-heading of this section says "If you've had a fine or worse and want to discuss it here's the place to do it". I'm sure what I have is a fine. I did also say that if I am in the wrong place then I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction...which no one has done.

Anyway, thanks for your constructive and progressive reply.

When I went for the job they asked me to sign a contract that said I would pay for my training from my wages (weekly) and if I left within 2 years I would have to pay back the remaining cost of training. Nothing about the medical.

My being employed by Stagecoach and starting training was on the basis that I passed my medical. Nothing was ever mentioned about a medical cost. Would I have had to pay it if I failed the medical? If not why do I have to pay because I didn't take the job with Stagecoach? Seems backwards to me! :(

I've received no documentation from TNC Legal - the only contact I have had from them was the initial text message and the voice messages.

    Thank you for your help.

What does this have to do with parking tickets?

If you searched for, say, Aldi you would get lots of hits from this forum about them, so would you post a query here about the price of groceries?

Do you seriously think a forum entitled "Parking Tickets, Fines and Parking", which is a sub-forum of the forum entitled "Motoring", is the place for your query?

Have you seriously not even looked to see if there's somewhere more appropriate? Possibly the forum entitled "Employment, Jobseeking and Training"?

The word "the" comes up in this section too but it doesn't mean it is the place to post about it.

Posting in the correct forum will improve your chance of getting an answer, but you don't seem interested in that.

    Pay up.

    Pay up.

Judging by the fact that I did ask for someone to point me in the right direction, it's quite obvious I'm interested in getting an answer. It seems you're just someone who sits on their high horse waiting for someone to post in the wrong place to slate them...good form, how dare someone make a mistake!

    "Pay up" :T

Again, I did say in my original post that if I'm in the wrong place then I'm sure someone will tell me. I did also say that I'm unsure if I'm in the right place.

Not sure how many times I have to explain myself but nothing I have done called for a sarcastic, unhelpful and time wasting reply.

Like you've managed to tell me where to go in your recent reply, it would have just been easier to say that to start with. Instead, you feel the need to belittle someone. Amazing how big someone feels behind a keyboard and monitor.

By the way - thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

This belongs here! because its not a fine but rather an employer issue.

BTW its all on what you sign with stagecoach as an employer, but if you signed no such things and no such contracts then tell TNC legal to do one.

I merely queried what this was doing in a Parking Tickets forum. 'Tis you who had a hissy fit and got all narky, thus provoking the same in response.
