No claims as a named driver on another policy

Hi all
I was wondering if anyone knew of any car insurance companies who will take into account the fact that I have been driving for 9 years with 3 years no claim under my name, but I also have 6 years no claims before this from being a named driver under a business insurance before I got my own. Because when I quote for 3 years they are coming out around £450-£500, but if I put in 9 years no claims they drop to about £250.
I was just wondering if there was any way to get the no claims discount I am entitled to.
Thanks

Good advice in Nickmack's thread, but it isn't easy to get a true NCD, rather than just an introductory discount wth a fancy name.
I am currently in the same position myself.
Your only hope of a real, transferrable NCD is with the old insurance company, pre-supposing that they don't refuse to talk to you because you aren't the policy holder. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I did phone around and ask, and they said that since it was over two years ago that I was a named driver then it doesn't count. Since rude language is banned on this site I won't say how I feel about insurancers. I did manage to get a good deal with Admiral multicar insurance though, so I'd give it a try.
My best advice is to phone/website every insurer. I'be had quotes from LV (£880) to Admiral (£360). I used the comparison sites for a basic quote (Admiral isn't on them I think) and then rang them with the quote number the website gave and asked if they could improve it. They all said no! But you can only try.Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast0 -
Ah. If you haven't been either a named driver or a policy holder for 2 years, they all - quite understandably, IMHO - start you from scratch again. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I was told on the phone by screentrade that I could transfer over to the main policy holder just by showing them that I have been on my husband's policy for 3 years with no claims so I could now be the main policy holder as he is driving less and less. WROOOOOOOOOONG I signed up with them and then they said they wanted insurance papers showing our no claims and when I sent them said "but they are for your husband. " I told them that I was told on the phone that it was transferable but they told me that was not possible and that I owed then nearly a 100 quid. I had an aproximate time and the name of the person that I spoke to written down and I told them to track down the phone conversation that they say they keep. They couldn't do that, it takes too long and they would never be able to find it!!!!!!!!!!!! excuse me if I had done something fraudulently or given them misinformation do you think they would have found the time to listen to the phone calls? You bet your life they would. So I had to quit and go back cap in hand to my old insurance company. They make me so mad.0

I know - you never get the same person and story twice - even if you get the same person, the story isn't quite the same!
My ex-wife-to-be and I (at least we're still talking!) will be ringing LV together on Saturday morning, to get this sorted out once and for all.
If their quote for me with my own NCD is comparable to the premium for the policy I've had to take out with Quinn Direct in the meantime, I will just have to bite the bullet and go back to them.
However, as soon as I can do so, I plan to defect with the NCD!The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
