Laminate Kitchen Worktop - Wilsonart vs Duropal

We are looking into worktops for our kitchen. We will also be purchasing matching upstand

Are Duropal worktops better quality than Wilsonart? It is between the Wilsonart Colmer Oak and the Duropal Natural Oak Block. I would need 2x4.2m from Duropal or 2x3.6m from Wilsonart. I like the capillary groove with the Duropal

Any other manufacturers I should be looking at? I have looked at Getalit and Lechner as recommended on here but finding prices for them harder to find than Wilsonart and Duropal

I'd go for Duropal over Wilsonart any day. Check out Axiom too
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I would agree with Meepster and go for Duropal but not been impressed with Axiom over the last few years as I've seen far too many where the top layer has worn through. Its not through abuse but just poor quality laminates.

I don't have much experience of Wilsonart but I was quite impressed with it.

I fit a lot of worktops. Duropal are a very high quality brand. The laminate is a decent thickness and their cores seem tobe much denser than other manufacturers. They also do their laminates in a choice of lengths. They do a 4.2m length, which is very useful in installations where you have a requirement exceeding a typical 3m length.

Thanks for the reply Phill, the only lengths I can find Duropal in are 2m or 4.2m. 3.6m would be perfect for us and probably cheaper and easier to transport but I can only find it in 2m or 4.2m

I had the a similar decision to make for my utility area. There was no contest. I told OH it will not be her choice of Wilsonart - I would place the order and, and Duropal was delivered.

Sorry if this sounds sexist but even in kitchens, often deemed a female domain, common sense should prevail.

I fail to see OP's issue with a length of 4.2m. Any order would include delivery to the chosen location, and it is reasonable to expect to cut a worktop to fit a kitchen. Cutting is available, but you will pay based on the 4.2m length - you cannot expect the supplier to find a customer for the 600mm offcut.

Of course common sense should prevail which is why I asked the question about the quality of the two we like the look of

There is no issue in purchasing 4.2m length if that is what it is sold in. 3.6m would suit me better with less wastage but if all I can get is 4.2m then so be it
