When I first go on the internet after a couple of minutes Explorer and Firefox both freeze for a few minutes and I can't do anything on my PC not even Task Manger will appear. After a few minutes everything works fine again.
I have Comodo Firewall installed which used to auto update and i found that used to freeze my Pc while it was checking for updates. I have since disabled Comodo checking for updates hoping this would solve the problem but my Pc still freezes for a few minutes.
I ran a scan for virus and spyware but nothing showed. Any ideas please??

hmmm I'm not sure what that is, have you tried reinstalling firefox.
unless, how much space do you have on the hard drive?
another idea could be defragging the harddrive.0 -
Try starting task manager, then going on to the net. When it freezes, look in processes inside task manager and see if there is anything taking up a lot of CPU. Post back if there is anything.0

You will probably find the offending process to be svchost.exe - probably your anti-virus software getting its updates; and whatever other programs require updating.0
