Help with old debt

  • Just been looking on national debt helpline website and it says something about ccj .
    How.do in find out if one had been obtained against this debt

    You could check the registry trust, but again, should they claim there is one then the onus is on the collector to tell you and provide details in reply to the statute barred letter.

    Just keep in mind that its not unheard of for an unscrupulous DCA to "invent" a phantom payment in an attempt to deceive you into thinking an account is not SB.


    Remember, anything they tell you, they must be able to back up with hard evidence, the onus is on them to prove its not SB, not on you to prove it is.

  • Spoken to a lovely man from National Debtline, Have sent of letters to cabot.
    Last night was the first time since having the letters I slept.
    Kyle was very supportive and non judgmental about my state of debt and said that if its not statue barr then we will tackle possible writing the debts off.

    Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all for all your advise very much appreciate it

    Fermi isn't there something in the code of conduct about not pursuing vulnerable people? If the debts are not statute barred (which sounds like they are), then perhaps that is another option for the OP to pursue. But I dont know enough about it
