Selling car - repairing hole in bumper worth it?

I'm planning to sell my 2009 VW Polo Bluemotion next month it has about a 4/5 cm by 2/3 cm hole in the lowest part of the front bumper. Just got a quote of £175 for fixing this.
I was wondering whether this would be worth doing for a private sale?
I presume it wouldn't be worth for selling to a dealer?
The car has done 75000 miles by the way.

Whats the rest of the car like? If the interior is spotless and there are no other scrapes or chips and you have full service history then for a popular 2009 car I'd do it if only to make it look like its been well cared for. Whilst you might not get any more money for it, it might make it easier to sell.0

interior is very good apart from some where near the footrest. outside it does have some stone chip and a couple of minor scrapes
Am I right to think that for a dealer it wouldn't make much difference though?0 -
If you px it, then the dealer will probably just reduce the value of the trading by what they think it will cost to fix.
If you try to sell it, either to a dealer or private, then they will probably walk away as they don't want the hassle of fixing it themselves. My postings reflect my lifetime's experience and my opinion. You are quite welcome to respond with your experiences and option, whether similar or different.0 -
It all depends on what you want out of the car. A car with a holed bumper and body grazes and a worn interior is not going to get even average money (if your careless with what I can see, what else haven't you bothered with?). So if you just want to dispose, leave it and the price will be weighted accordingly.
If you want to sell privately, and these things are still, unbelievably, in demand, you need a SMART repairer who does all the functions, to assess the whole car and bring it up to spec.. It might cost £300-400 to do, but not only will you get more for it, it will sell quicker too. (But don't tyre slick the tyres).0 -
could you get a matching bumper from a breakers?0

Trade in - it wont matter much
Private sale - get it repaired, any stone chips touched in, and a valet.0 -
+1 As above ^^0

right thanks for the reply guys. Problem is that although I would prefer to PX I don't actually want another car (going from 2 cars to 1 due to new closer job)0

Most dealers will take two cars in against one.
We traded in a 2012 z4 and a 2012 Golf against a 2013 370z.0 -
right thanks that's a possibility though I like the other one and wouldn't want to spend any money right now on upgrading0
