When you at at the proverbial 'coal-face' of the debt mountain it is a frightening and intimidating place to be. Most of all it is a bloody lonely place - partly fuelled by shame that you got into that mess.

When you stand back, take stock and deal with it, as you have done, then miracles can happen.

Most of all though that feeling of being debt free is a phenomenal feeling and one which will carry you along with it for years to come. The burden being lifted from your shoulders will allow you to walk a wee bit taller than before.

That penny in your purse belongs to you and no one else. You have a right to feel proud of yourself, you did well kiddo

Thank you all so so much! It's still not sunk in, haha!

I'm concentrating on saving up for my divorce now, and then once that's paid i'll be actually saving properly!

It just means I can now treat the kids without worrying about juggling debts; I can save for things they'd like to do without feeling guilty it should have gone to pay off debt!

Good work. I feel your joy, I truly do. Am proud of you and also remember my debt free day after losing my house and facing a long hard slog. Took years! I am now 40 years old.... And have savings!!!
I hope other people read this and are inspired by you. Thanks for posting...
