Hi all,
Im struggling with getting a good 0% interest on purchase card.
I have recently applied for 2 over the past 6months and before that I had a Halifax card for a year.
Just a little background: I have never been in any sort of debt, Paided everything on the Halifax card when needed to (Which is now cancelled), According to my Experian account I have a credit rating of 998.
Last week I applied for a post office card which had the usual requirments and a min annual income of 8k per year (I double that). Yet still got rejected.
I did phone them to enquire about the rejection but they are unable to say why.
I also spoke to Experian and they found it strange to have such a high credit rating yet still getting rejected.
So just asking around here to see if anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks for your time
Kind Regards

Are you on the Electoral Register? This seems to be a huge factor. Your score means nothing and only relates to the information held on you by whatever agency has supplied it. You could have a high score with one and a low score with another - all lenders/companies don't necessarily report to all the main agencies so the information held is not always the same. The important factor is your credit history, not the score.
If it helps, I too was turned down yesterday for the Post Office 0% card - two minutes later, i applied for a Tesco 0% card and was accepted immediately with a limit that suits me. One lender's criteria was obviously different from the others - just wish now I had have gone to Tesco first!!
EDIT: just editing this as I remembered this helpful section of MSE in case it is of use:

You will note the Post Office checks only Experian while Tesco checks all three main agencies. It would be worthwhile signing up to Noddle (Callcredit's free service) for a look at what info they hold0
