Claim for credit card PPI from 2000-07 advice needed!

I was hoping that someone may be able to advise on my circumstances?

I had my first ever credit card with Capital One starting in May 2000. I applied by post. I was employed when I applied but became a student only 3 months later in Sept 2000. I had PPI from day one but cannot remember how it was sold. I remember cancelling the PPI in 2007 when I saw Capital One were fined for mis-selling and I learned it was an optional thing! I paid PPI every month for seven years and as a student racked up constant overlimit and late charges (which I claimed back in 2007).

As a result of successfully claiming my bank charges back in 2007, I do have monthly statements for these seven years showing the PPI payments. I do not have evidence of my employment at the account opening. I can't even remember if I was salaried or hourly (it was my first job), but I do know I wouldn't have been paid for sickness. I had no savings.

Not having the exact details of a few things because I can't remember has put me off claiming the PPI back. Should I bother?

  • Thanks for replying and the link. I have read up but I'm still unsure whether to move forward and claim. Was hoping there might be someone that's gone through similar and had an opinion on my circumstances.

Loys of people have, some have been successful some not. And you are not claiming, you are complaining that there was a fault with the sale.

You won't know till you complain whether or not you will be successful

Thanks for replying. I'm not very confident about complaining hence my post here, still hoping someone might have had a similar case and pass on a bit of wisdom. I think it's because it's an older claim than most and I don't have all the details I probably needed?

Go to the main board and search for capital one there, you'll find lots of threads.....

you only need the account number and a complaint reason....
