Hi there

I signed up to a website around March for a service called 'Bikinilists' - The name doesn't describe the service what-so-ever - It's a service that provides contacts for the creative industries.

I had to pay £40 each month for a year. Unfortunately I have suffered from depression and anxiety and have been signed off from work and am now having therapy. As I'm a freelance designer, I'm unable to afford this payment each month now, as I have no money coming in.
I'm also on ESA, but that covers basic expenses.

I've written to the company explaining my situation (with both doctors notes and letters from my therapy) and they refuse to respond.

I guess I'm just looking to see if there is an answer. Even if I can get reduced payments.

Any help would be appreciated

Regards

Tom

Does there T&C state you are bound to them for 12months by contract? Have you ever used their service before for anything? If it wasn't what you thought it was did you try to cancel straight away?

What does their T&Cs say about cancellation? A quick check on their site, which is work safe, says its a minimum of 12 months if you are on the monthly package and clearly its a B2B contract

There is no statutory out of a contract just because you are ill. If you cannot convince them to give a gesture of goodwill then either you need to decide if to struggle to keep up with your payments and cancel as at the 12 months point or cancel your payments, run up a debt with them and leave it to them to decide if to litigate against you for it or just blacklist you from the site
  • Yeah it's a definite 12 months. I think I'll try and speak to them again and if not, well, maybe stop the payments (risk it) and negotiate for a lower rate over a longer time in order to pay it back. Cheers for the help guys

Death or bankruptcy are the only ways to void your contract without penalty-not ill health or a change in your financial circumstances.

What about asking/negotiating for a temporary suspension of the service (including payments) until you are fit and well and working again? You could even set a date with your bank for DDR's to start again.
