Halifax Clarity reward payment

Am I the only one who has to call Halifax to have this applied in some months?

Despite spending well over the £300 threshold each month (taking into account refunds etc), four out of seven months this year the £5 hasn't been applied to my account, meaning I have to phone to do this manually.

The reward payment clause features in my T and C's and I don't see why this keeps happening.

    Do you pay over £1000 into your current account each month? To get the current account reward you only have to pay in £750.

    11. REWARD PAYMENT

    11.1 - If you meet the requirements set out in condition 11.2, then for any statement period in which you:-

    (a) make at least £300 of Purchases (once any Purchases refunded in that period have beend deducted);
    (b) stay within your credit limit; and
    (c) make your minimum monthly payment;

    you will qualify for a £5 credit to your account in the following month. The credit will not be treated as a payment to your account under these conditions.

    11.2 - To be eligible for the reward set out in condition 11.1, you must, at the time you enter into this agreement:-

    (a) hold a Halifax current account and pay in £1,000 or more each month;
    (b) use our switching service to move your current account to a Halifax Current Account and agree to pay in £1,000 or more each month;
    (c) open or hold a Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account.

    The same is happening to me.
  • Yep, over £1000 goes into the account every month and all the other criteria are met. They're always willing to add it on as they can see that it should have been applied.

    I only ever pay £750 in since they changed the current account conditions, I still get the reward payment on my credit card every month, regular as clockwork.

    I didn't realise that £1,000 was still supposed to be needed.

    You don't need to keep doing this. Read the condition carefully, it says "at the time you enter into this agreement". I haven't paid £1000 into my Reward account for over a year but keep getting the £5 credit card reward payment.

    Back to the OP, I have received the £5 every month after spending £300+.

    Regarding the date of the Clarity reward payment, when is it exactly? I have searched and read different things: "one month and a couple of days after the statement where you spent £300+" and "a couple of days after the statement is generated".

    Thanks in advance!

    Mine is always credited the day after my statement date, which itself varies slightly month-to-month between 26th and 29th. However sometimes the £5 does not appear straight away on the next day, instead showing up the day after that but backdated.

    So if my statement date is 26th, sometimes the payment will show up on 27th and dated for the 27th, but sometimes it will show up on 28th but backdated to 27th.

    ETA: I see you're asking as well about whether it's immediate or a month later. I am not sure because I always spend £300 on that card.
  • That's odd, I was told by them that the norm is the credit is applied around 2 weeks after the statement date, even though the payment is backdated to the statement date (like mine). Maybe it's something to do with some being on the Lloyds or Halifax system (if such a difference still exists).

    It's the latter.
