Taking Money to Australia for a Years Travelling

Hi All

I am hopefully going to Australia soon on a working holiday visa. I am just wondering the best way to bring money to Australia for such a trip. Off the top of my head I'm thinking I could set up an Oz account and do a bank transfer, I could bring a UK based credit card/s, I could bring the Visa debit card of my UK based bank account, travellers cheques, cash etc etc etc

I hope to earn while I'm there so this money I'm bringing will basically be to cover me for my first few weeks and to have for emergencys, internal flights/flight home etc

There are quite a few options and I was wondering if anyone who has recently been on a similar trip to Oz could give me some ideas?

I spent a year in Oz recently and found the easiest and cheapest way was to keep your cash in a uk account, preferably a high interest one if your likely to have a few thousand in and use a bank who allow free withdrawals when abroad. I opened an account with nationwide building society who did both. Had no problems with them.

Also opened an account with Westpac Bank when i got there so any money earned could be paid in. They'll open one up for you if you have passport, prooof of australian address etc.
