Experian: Default showing different information

Hope you can help. I have searched the forum for the answer but cannot find one.

I have just re-signed up to Credit Expert. I defaulted on a Halifax overdraft, the debt was sold to 1st Credit.

Halifax and 1st Credit are showing the default on my file; Halifax is shown as satisfied and transferred to DCA. I understand that this is what they do now.

My question is, do these both have to show exactly the same information bar the 'settled' status on the Halifax one.

Because, currently, the default dates are different and the address that the account is connected to is different too. The only thing they have in common is the default balance.

I'm just concerned lenders will assume these are 2 different accounts as the default date and the address is different.

Thanks in advance.

Appears about right to me. You had an account so that appeared on your credit history. It was sold and is marked settled and it then appears as a new account with the new owner.

However the default date should not be different as it is passed on with the account and the original contract to the new owner. What you could be seeing is the settlement date and not the default date. The default date doesn't change when an account is sold.

I am puzzled as to why you say the address is different. All accounts will be at that same address because it's the address you're viewing and any accounts at a different address should be on a different linked address page.

There is not a lot to be lost though by complaining to the CRA who will look into it and possibly provide an explanation. There should be a button to click to go to an inquiry or complaints page.

    Hi Anthorn,

Thank you for your reply. I've checked it again and it is definitely a different default date, they're only a week apart but it is different, I just thought they had to be exactly the same.. or does a week not really mean anything?

The address with Halifax is the one where I lived when I defaulted on the account and it was closed but the one with 1st Credit shows my previous address (which is where I lived after defaulting on the account).

I hope this makes sense. I will email Experian too, I just thought I'd get some advice as to what the correct procedure is.

    Thanks again

    Hi,

Sorry to ask again but I have contacted Experian. I made it clear what had happened and I have gotten this response:

"I'm writing in relation to your recent query with:

*1st Credit Ltd (Account Started 01/10/2008)

They've confirmed that this information is accurate, so I'm afraid I can't make any changes to it.

    They have provided below information

"Please ask the customer to clarify the reason they consider the default date should be 22.03.2010."

I understand that this may not be the outcome you were hoping for. If you'd like to discuss their decision, you should contact them directly."

If they have connected the 2 defaults together and show that the debt has been assigned to the DCA, why are they asking me to clarify??

I don't understand why Experian can't just change it when they can plainly see it is assigned to 1st credit and the default date and address details are wrong?

Do I now get in touch with 1st Credit?

    Thank you
