I see in the news tonight they have succeeded in closing Boals who were using Ikea car park as an alternative to Belfast City Airport official car parking.
There is no doubt Car Parking at the city as extortionate leaving regular and occasional travellers with little option - £26 per day is just ridiculous...
Laughably they were told there was no evidence of demand for their service - not judging by any time I was ever there...

Here's a little exercise for you.
Check the list of members of the Belfast City Airport Forum. Then check the list of members of Belfast City Council Town Planning Committee.
Work out who serves on both, and which party they belong to.
Then read this:

And this:

And finally, Newton Emerson absolutely nails it with this article from last year:

I had no idea this was happening and only the other day was recommending this service to someone. I am surprised that we have not heard more about this in the media.0

Why does this NOT surprise me in the very slightest ?????? DUP at it again !!!!!
I really cannot wait to find out who was trying to line their pockets in this NAMA ordeal....... wonder what odds I'd get in the bookies for a DUP member to be top of the list ????0 -

Probably need to put a grand on to win a quid on that bet.0 -
Only saw this on the news so forgive me if my details are wrong.
Boals use the (top floor of) the IKEA car park. They are running without planning permission. It has been denied because they haven't proven a need.
Surely proving a need is easy - look at how many cars use them.
If that's not enough, they should start a petition (which I'm sure loads of moneysavers would be happy to sign!) which, with a lot of signatories, would again go towards proving a need.
Just look at the difference in prices!0 -
Get Nolan on the case!0

They already have:

Let's be blunt here - the bosses of the City Airport seem to have a nice cosy social relationship with an East Belfast MLA and an East Belfast councillor.
I'm not implying anything untoward has been done by either party, but it just *looks* suspicious.0 -

I's go further than saying "it just looks suspicious" It reeks of some dodgy dealings.....
The sooner the rules on the publishing of Political Party Donors changes over here the better... Only problem then is I suppose the Shinners will get all donations made through their "Southern" branch of the party....0
