Solicitors Costs

It's been over 10 years since I purchased a house so I'm just checking that these costs seem reasonable.

I rang around for selling costs a couple of weeks ago and have gone with the same firm for purchasing, foolishly without checking the costs.

Costs purchase. £430
Telegraphic transfer. £20
Vat. £90
Search package. £144.10
Completion searches. £7
Land registry fee. £95
SDLT return fee. £8.40

Do these costs seem reasonable or on the high side?

Thanks in advance.

I had my quote yesterday and it is a similar price to yours:

    Disbursements Cost (no VAT/VAT inc.)
    Land Registry (E&W) (E) £95.00
    Stamp Duty £0.00
    Telegraphic Transfer £15.00
    HMLR Final Search £3.00
    Bankruptcy Search £2.00
    Local Authority Search £130.00
    Drainage and Water Search £50.40
    Environmental Search £67.20
    Chancel Search £22.31

So I'm guessing that's the general price?

Extremely cheap. Make sure you read their terms and conditions to be sure everything is included and there won't be any hidden extras you find out about later on :)
    My credit card: £148.07/£694.91 (21%)
    Partner's credit card: £0/£602.03

    Loan from partner's mum: £800/£2,400 (33%)
    Loan from partner's dad: £10,000/£10,000 (100%)

    Personal loan: £3,000/£3,000 (100%)

On the face of it, it feels cheap but a couple of points:

    1) What searches are included in the pack for £144.10? It feels like there may be quite a few non-mandatory ones excluded.
    2) Is the property you are purchasing freehold or leasehold? Leasehold would incur additional costs.
