Dental/NHS charges

Been unemployed for 6 months prior, during that time i claimed Job Seekers Allowance before finally finding a zero hour contract ''job'' which is atrocious by the way as i can and do get anywhere from 5-15 hours a week, mostly 5, anyhow i had 2 dentist appointments and i forgot to let them know i was working which is a major mess up on my part....slaps self..... now i have a letter from the nhs telling me i have to pay them £151.30 with the £51.30 being for the 2 appointments i presume which i am obviously more than happy to pay and the £100 being a penalty charge which is obscene, how am i meant to pay that when im earning less than i do when i was on jsa, thaks in advance

Working under 16 hours a week and you can still claim JSA as you are still considered unemployed. You might not get any money but you'll still get NI credits. Part time employment is between 16 and 30 hours and full time is 30 hours or more.

Was the payment reduced to zero because your earnings were too high?
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

You would have been asked to sign a form at the dentist to state that you were entitled to free treatment - did you forget about your work when signing?

You may have been entitled to free treatment, but needed to either still have an active income based JSA claim, or have applied for help with health costs. Why had you ended your JSA claim?
  • Yes my jsa claim got ended when i got work as advised by my adviser and she did nothing to tell me that i would still be able to claim if i work more than 16 hours in a week all the time knowing that she literally forced me into a zero hour contract job, and yes i didn't think twice when signing the form at the dentist as im a moron sometimes :/

After i bit of researching online i have ordered a h10 form to help with health costs so i will send that off and see what they say, if they check my income they will see i earn next to nothing month in month out, it would be impossible for me to pay that charge, it will make me pot-less paying the dental charges alone, need a new job but where i live there isn't much choice

The payment wasnt reduced to anything, they shut down my claim when i became employed .
