5 years of defaults added to credit score!!

Any help needed! I had a credit card in 2009 and due to ill health I could not pay it. I received advice from the citizens advice bureau and the debt was passed to allied international. Over five years I made monthly, agreed payments to AIC and the debt was cleared last year.
I am now in the position to apply for a mortgage and have been looking at my credit score. I have just discovered that a default has been added to my account every month between 2009 and 2014. This is something that I did not think would happen as I was paying the debt, albeit to AIC. Can anyone tell me if this is right or if there is something I can do to get these removed?

It wont have been added every month (at least it shouldn't be) there will be one default, which would be correct as you defaulted on the payments, What date is showing for the default date? It will be removed 6 years from this date

When you say you've "just discovered" this, have they been on your credit file for the past six years, and you just haven't checked / noticed before? Or have they only recently been added?

There certainly does seem to be one every month on the noddle report I am looking at.
I mean I have only just looked at my credit report, I assume they have always been there but I have never looked.

A D or 8 every month is not a new default. It's just a status update on the original.

Since a default can't be undone, it will stay as a D or 8 every month no matter what informal payment agreement you later.

This is the normal way to show a defaulted account.

The account/default will still come off your report 6 years from the initial default date.

Thank you for the clarification fermi. That is what I can see, a D on each month for the years I was paying the agency. So this is just one default, thank goodness, I was worried!

Correct. The row of Ds are just monthly status updates.

The status once defaulted just stays as D for default. The codes that go there reflect how you are paying against the original agreement, which once you've defaulted is over and can't undefault, so that stays a D from then onwards.

As said it's normal and is what should be there and what people will expect to see on a defaulted account.

Thank you, it was a bit of a shock! My score isn't good and I was wondering if this was affecting it, at least I now know there is only one default.
