Also we make savoury ones, taking out the sugar, fruit, choc replacing with sweetcorn, cheese & spring onion :)

(I've never done it with the choc before it was just that we had some in and I would have sat and eaten the bag to myself otherwise!!)

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes, things are still a bit strained and DS is still not back at home but has been popping in and out, mostly for money and baccy, and has gone on his driving lesson today but rearranged for the instructor to pick him up and drop him off at his friends.

I am kind of expecting him to kick off again when he finds out I've changed the paypal password after he spent £32 on a pizza delivery to his friend's last night. I'm happy to let that one go but I can't afford to keep doing it and he has to learn that if he thinks he's left home then pizza deliveries aren't part of the package.

I'm back at work today and there was a sale at lunch time and I managed to get 3 x packs of branded washing tablets, a box of Assam tea, 2 Egyptian cotton face cloths, a tube of branded tooth paste and a Stynx gift set for £4 :T

My boss is back at work so everything is now manic again, the storm after the calm!

Have a great day all :)
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

FVD - £32 for sneaky pizza? That doesn't sound like a viable perk for people who've left home....I'm defo with you on that one! On the plus side, sounds like you got some great bargains today!

    Yes homemade pancakes, really easy

    1 egg,
    225ml milk,
    150g s r flour
    15g sugar
    1 tsp baking powder
100g of summer berries that I defrosted last night
and a pack of chocolate chunks that I'd got on a COS offer last week.

    Mix all together then
Using a table spoon I drop 1 spoon of batter into a hot pan, the mixture should flatten on its own but not spread far. After a minute bubbles will come through to the surface. Flip them but don't move them around. cook for another minute :)
If doing lots at once put the pancakes in a clean tea towel and fold it over to keep them warm whilst you cook the rest a few at a time. In my pan I usually cook three at a time.

I make them the same way but I don't put any sugar in the batter. They still work.

Thanks Ally, I didn't actually put the sugar in mine either :)

Just made a batch of swiss shortcake too and added in the left over chocolate chunks.

Feeling a bit in limbo this afternoon, don't really know what to do next. Dh is on his way home from work early as he's got the dentist at 4.50pm I'm hoping its just a check up.
Still need to prep something for tea for the kids as they're out at karate again tonight.

FatvonD, sounds like you picked up some bargains today :) Hope your son comes round soon.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    edited 29 July 2015 at 6:20PM
    Hi All

Today has been one of THOSE days. Oh yes. It started well enough. Said my goodbyes to the boys made sure were all sorted for the trip. Did my work shopping on the way in. Was very pleased as I managed to claim back
76p for buying some cinamon, from Checkoutsmart, plus a couple of other pence for loading the reciepts up. Also managed to earn £2 from Shoptize for buying Pombears, brown sauce & butter. So far so awesome.
Got to work, nice pace for the first couple of hours, so I baked, made the salads, etc. Chatted to some lovely regulars. Hits mid day. First NCT group arrive (new mums) all order lunches. Great. Door keeps opening, more and more people coming in. 2nd NCT group arrive, bigger this time. Orders keep coming in. 1pm. Run out of bread! Never happened before.
Then. Just as everyone wanted to pay. My card machine goes down. I do all the usual things, including turning the router off and on again, but no good.
Ring up TalkTalk customer services, useless. The man basically tells me that the only thing I can do is bring a laptop into the cafe, connect to the router using a cable & reset it as apparently by turning it on and off I've sent it back to factory settings! I was not amused. I told him he could get me an engineer out. To which he tells me sure, that will be £50.
Anyway I was almost in tears. Fortunately other than one slightly disgruntled customer everyone managed to pay cash. We are no where near a cashpoint, which for London is amazing, but true,& as many people have multiple small kids with them I can see why it would be very distressing to find out you have to go miles out of your way to pay for lunch.
I started tweeting TalkTalk instead. Straight away a person calls me who was able to help me remote into the router using my tablet. And the problem is solved in about 10 minutes. By which point of course everyone had left, & I was in the midst of armagedon mess wise as I hadnt been able to clear a single table, sweep, wipe, etc whilst I was dealing with all that & the internet saga.

The upsides, took nearly double a normal days takings today. Paid my accountant cash for my VAT filing expense, & good to see we can still have a day like that in the doldrums of the summer hols.

Downsides, I feel really wound up still. Have just had my lunch. A pastry & some doritos! At 6pm. And I dont like feeling so out of control.

Good things, have just done a PAD to CC1 for £13.52 as I'd hit the payout limit on Shoptize, & did a tidy of both accounts and rounded out that figure.

Now to read the thread properly & catch up.

Bob, That must have been very stressful. I for one very rarely carry cash on me. Amazing how by tweeting you suddenly get the help you need, that was really good thinking.
Glad the boys got off ok for their trip. Enjoy a bit of peace and quiet now. :)

Goodness Bob, what a nightmare
Good thinking on the tweeting though!

Hope those Mums weren't put off and will return - I know from my days working in London, that cash machines are few and far between in some areas (not sure why!)

((Hugs)) FVD. Your son is being unreasonable, and no, of course you can't afford £32 pizza deliveries  Take care xx

    Evening all,

Few things done today to save the pennies-
    Banking and lucky phone checked.
    lots of surveys done.
all meals from stores and used left over pastry to make jam tarts for kids supper instead of throwing.
several washes on 30 and hung outside to dry.
Applied for new CC and was successful 18mths on 0%, so that will save me some interest.
Took kids swimming and remembered snack for when they got out, instead of buying from expensive vending machine.
£4 payout from surveys paid straight off n£xt account.
