gggrrr at the job centre

gosh we applied for IS and IB cause we were told to, on the 17 th july. we have had no money coming in for 5 weeks now, only to phone up today to be told they have stopped the claim cause we never handed in a sick line for my husband.
absolute bull, my husband went down to jobcentre on the 2nd august to hand in a 6 week line, asked for a photo copy as proof, only to be told 'we are not a photo copying service'
what has happened? they have lost the bloody thing and we are kicking up hell cause of it. they are trying to sort it out, but however took it of fmy hubby hasn't fowarded it on.
how ridiculus?
we have also been told we would not get IB and IS cause I am getting WTC as I am self employed, working 16 hours a week (only bringing in £100 a month)
we were told at start we would get it all, why cant they get things right? why do they always tell you wrong things?
we have never claimed benefits before and have struggled for over a year with hardly any money and my husband forcing himself out to work when he was ill.
also, if we end up getting the IB, will that be affected if I start getting maternity allowance? I only ask cause I read on their website that IB is not means tested so if you are due it you would get it no matter what. where as if I was getting IS then they would reduce that if I got MA.
the guy on the phone today said the government says we should be able to survive on £90.90 a week, what?, a family of 2 adults, 2 small kids and one on the way, we dont have a council house so have to pay our mortgage no matter what. we also have bills to pay. fair enough, £90a week would be fine if that is all we got for food. but not enough for all our bills.
sorry for the rant, I am so fed up with how this system works. why dont they take into accoutn mortgages etc?

So you are saying you only have £90.90 coming in a week for EVERYTHING including the Mortgage?
Why don't you get a job? If not, find some more self-employed work. You can do telephone jobs/phone sex operator/telesales for companies.... allsorts as self-employment.
Loads of people on here are skint yet slave away day in and evening to make more money for their families.0 -
Something doesn't add up. Approx £25 a week from self employment, £30(?) a week child benefit, that is approx £55. So are you only getting approx £35 a week chid tax credit and working tax credit for 2 children????
I assume you have told tax credits that you are now the only wage earner and asked them to adjust your claim accordingly??The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

sorry I think I wrote it wrong.
they said £90 a week is enough to live off of.
my husband is claiming IB as he is too ill to work or look after our 2 little ones. Hence reason I started up the self employment (I am doing the text op job) I cant do more as it's me who looks after the kids, both pre school. I am also pregnant. I cant get a PROPER job as we have no one to look after thw kids. plus I have severe sciatica and am on crutches, hence again why text op job was ideal. but I cant sit all day doing it to bring in loads of money as my kids have to be looked after too
I was just getting at the fact they tell you the wrong things. and the fact they have lost my husbands sick line, so have stopped the claim
we have been struggling for the last few years and never claimed any benefits before
we have money coming in from tax credits and child benfit but this has to go on paying mortgage and bills. iykwim?
that's all I was saying, I am not some lay about trying to scrounge the government.:jDebt free from 2010:j(except for mortgage lol)0 -
I am sorry you are having a difficult time but I can I give you one piece of advice , make sure that anything you hand over to the jobcentre you photocopy it before giving it to them plus keep a record of every conversation time and date plus the person you spoke to every time.... they are not good at keeping track of paperwork ...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

If your husband's sick note has been lost/mislaid,I advise him to get a duplicate from his GP and send it in ASAP.
If your husband will get IB, this may affect the WTC- so declare it to HMRC.
If you get MA, your husband cannot get an increase of IB for you. Again tell WTC.
If your husband will get IS, both your MA, and WTC will affect his IS.0
