Integrated Washing Machine or Integrated Washer Dryer

Hi members,

I have got another confusion and I need help. I am planning to put a new kitchen in the next 2 months.

The Kitchen supplier and fitter told me not to fit integrated condenser/vented tumble dryer nor integrated washer dryer as they produce too much heat which would spoil kitchen furniture very quickly. I have been advised by them to go for just washing machine and do an extra spin to aid drying of clothes.

I went to John Lewis and Euronics who said that the above is all rubbish and it is better to go for integrated washer dryer as it comes in handy during winter.

I cant put a seperate washing machine and tumble dryer as I dont have space inside the house.

Eurnoics suggested to put a condenser/vented tumble dryer in the out house.

I would appreciate if you could provide some feedback and make the buying decision for me easier.

thank you.

Hi, I had an integrated washer/dryer. It did not ruin the kitchen units but it took hours to dry clothes and was pretty useless. My MIL had a different make of machine and hers also took hours to dry.

The dryer part broke after about 2yrs and finally packed up totally at 3yrs. I may have just been unlucky.

I now do an extra spin after the load has ended and dry on an airer.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

Absolute nonsense. You need to be checking the quality of furniture he is selling not the type of appliance you are buying.

An important consideration in buying tumble dryers is the loading capacity. Often a machine is rated for 6 kg wash / 3 kg dry or similar. Effectively, the drying capacity is usually half the washing capacity. Half of the wash needs to be emptied out before the drying cycle is run or a smaller wash load used. In practice this is rarely done grossly overloading the machine resulting in very long drying times and rapid wear and tear of the machine leading to premature failure.

Its almost always a user error and not a machine fault.

  • In my opinion neither big problem with integrated is you will always have 2 doors to open when loading the machine plus most machines smell if the door is closed when not in use which you have to do with an integrated one

personally I don't mind seeing the free standing machine with washing in it
