Hi Guys
Myself and my girlfriend are planning for a decent holiday sometime and we'd to take in paris on route. Our plan was to travel by Eurostar to get there and by plane back. I'm pretty good at finding plane deals, but when it comes to Eurostar it all seems very expensive. Is it me messing up? Am i missing how to get a decent deal??
Thanks

I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

Try getting return tickets on Eurostar: the single fares they offer to people living in Britain are much higher than return fares. If you are determined to fly one way, you could get a return ticket and just not use the the second part of it.
Alternatively, clear your cookies and return to the Eurostar site, which will now ask you to state your country. If you choose USA you will then be offered affordable one-way fares, starting from US$75.00.0 -
You might get a better deal by booking a short break that includes hotel and the eurostar tickets. We always pack a picnic to enjoy on the train. Good luck and enjoy your trip. Good luck.Scuzie:T

I agree with Scuzie, i have always found it just the ticket is usually the same price as ticket and 2 nights hotel. Been to Paris, Bruges, Brussels - for between 100-150 for eurostar+hotel0 -
When we go to France we always travel by Eurostar and then TGV right down to the south and have always got fantastic deals. We use RailEurope and find them to be very helpful. We normally call them and talk to someone but right now I can't find the phone number.
Be warned though, you will find that booking in advance will get you the best prices! In some cases 1st class travel works out so cheap it isn't true....you get breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on time of travel on Eurostar and free newspapers and magazines included in that too!My second favorite household chore is ironing. Can someone check this for me, I'm not sure if I am being dumb or if this is a bargain ....

2 Passengers leaving Waterloo on 4/11/07 to Paris and returnin on 7/11/07 £59.00 for both people?!?
Is that each way? Or £59 per person or £59 for all of it (which seems stupidly cheap)

It's £59 EACH WAY for the 2 of you - for one person it's £29.50 each way.
You are given 2 screen, one with the prices and times for the outward leg and one with the same for the return leg.
But those fares are the cheapest you can get as "British" unless you qualify as a youth or senior person0 -
Remember that to get to London Waterloo you can buy cheap connecting tickets if you ask for them to 'London International'. These also cover you if your train's delayed and you miss your connection. Have a look at http://www.seat61.com for more info.0

I am not 100% certain but I do not think Eurostar, even though part owned by SNCF, offer any concession for seniors. I have both 'British Rail' & SNCF Senior Carte and so far I only get discounts here & in France but never Eurostar. Unless of course somebody out knows any different please. Oh and by the way, as from November, probably to coincide with the move to St Pancras, travel to Ashford & Ebbsfleet will be free on Southeastern trains. However, problem is that the only trains that will be stopping there until September 2009 will be the Eurostars!0
