How long to register land from old deeds

Hi does anyone know how long it is taking to register land with the land registry from old deeds? We are buying a place with some land but 2 parcels of land have not been registered and only have old deeds. Our solicitor has said it needs to be registered before we can go forward which I understand, they wrote to the other solicitors on the 14 th July but we have heard nothing yet, so was just wondering if anyone had a rough idea of how long this can take? Thanks for reading

Is your solicitor suggesting the and must be registered before you buy it? Why?
His job is to satisfy himself on your behalf that the Title is good (that is, the sellers genuinely own the land, have the right to sell it, and there are no legal issues). This he should do by inspecting the 'old deeds'.
It's how every sale used to happen.
Once the sale is Complete, he should then register the ownership in your name with the Land Registry (1st Registration).0 -
Our solicitor is saying that it has to be registered before we can buy and this is the norm nowDMP Support Thread Number 1860

The land registry has a backlog and any first registrations/part transfers are apparently taking months to get done - least that's what the land registry told me last week when I called to chase one.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway0 -
Find a new solicitor?
I guess the difference is
1) if the seller undertakes 1st registration before selling, the seller bears that cost
2) if property is sold unregistered, then buyer bears additional cost of verifying Title and 1st Registration
1) will take longer but be cheaper for you.
2) would be faster but cost you a bit more
To answer your question:
Assuming the Deeds are complete, and in order, with clear Plan, then Land Registry probably take a week or so from date they receive the application.how long it is taking to register land with the land registry from old deeds?
If they need to query anything, or Deeds are incomplete etc, there could be letters/documents goung back and forth for weeks (or in worst case, months).
edit: just seen smlSave's post above. Sorry!0 -

The current average for a first registration is 40 business days. As that is an average some may be completed more quickly whilst others can take longer.
If there is a 'linked transaction', namely an onward sale as here, then the applicant can contact us with the details and ask us to expedite the application. If we can then we will and the registration time can be far quicker.“Official Company Representative
