Can someone help with traveller's cq's query?

We usually always take Euros but this year are wondering whether we should take T cq's to Greece instead. (mainly for security reasons).
We have no Nationwide acct so no free withdrawals you see.

What are the pro's and con's of t cq's against hard currency or using an ATM?

And, does it matter where I get my trav cq's from if I decide on that option.

Sorry if this seems ultra basic to most of you but we've always taken cash

Cashing a travellers cheque could cost you a lot more in commission than withdrawing cash at an ATM. I remember exchanging some English pounds in Greece and it cost me about £5 in commission!

Pro: if they get lost/stolen, you get the money back.

Con: commission when you buy them; commission when you exchange them; nuisance and possible rip-offs when you exchange them; and if you sign in the wrong place and/or lose the receipt then you can't get lost ones replaced after all.

If you do get them, make sure they are in Euro rather than sterling. And yes, rates will vary.

Ah...it is coming back to me why we've always steered clear
