Would you complain about a faulty win?

So I won a pair of trainers, that were delivered to me about 6 weeks ago. They've had a pretty easy life, only really worn at weekends and no running or anything like that. I realised the other day that the sole is falling off one of them already.

The RRP is around £100, so if I'd paid for them I'd be asking for a replacement or refund and I think if they'd arrived in poor condition I'd have said something, but as they're a prize and I've had use for a few weeks I'm in 2 minds!

What's your opinion?

I would personally complain directly to the makers of the trainer in question rather than whoever ran the competition (if that was the maker of the trainer in question, apologies!)

I won a TV once that didn't work properly, I went back to the promoter and they replaced it straight away. So I would try with the promoter. Good Luck

I bought a pair of Sketchers, Go Walk, they cost £55. I wanted to keep them looking reasonably smart for a holiday so after wearing them twice I put them back in the box with the cardboard inserts and tissue paper. 5 months later I took them out of the box to pack for my holiday and noticed the stitching round the back of the heel had come undone.I contacted Sketchersand they said I could not return them myself the shop I bought them from would have to inspect them and I would have to abide by the shop policy for returns.I took them to the shop and they agreed the shoes were ' as new' but I was outside their 30 days returns policy. They would not return them for me.I contacted Sketchers on Facebook and was told there was nothing they could do, if the shop would not return them , that was that.I posted a photo of the shoes on their site showing they still looked as new, and the undone stitching, but they never replied to any of my posts or comments and just deleted them.As I was due to go on holiday the next day I took them to Timpson shoe repairers in a booth outside my local Tesco and the lovely lady there stitched them for me and refused to take payment as she was just as disgusted as I was about the responses I had had but suggested I could pop a £1 into the charity collection tin on the counter....I put in a fiver as I was so grateful to have a pair of ' new ' shoes to pack.If I had had the time I would have taken them to Trading Standards as they were definitely not fit for purpose. One thing for certain I will never buy Sketchers, nor recommend them , nor use the shop I bought them from ever again ( even though it is within walking distance of my home ) I wish you luck but if manufacturers do not care with shoes ' bought' I wonder how they will be with shoes ' won ' .

That is one brand out of a vast array of shoe Companies and will be like any other business/service provider as you will get decent firms that will resolve an issue and others that cannot be bothered due to poor customer service skills.

Tarring them all with the same brush is a bit rash to be frank and it really is down to each individual Company and how they view there products, customers and reputation.
  • I've won hotter shoes twice and they both fell apart after very little use but I didn't pursue it because I had had some use from them and they were free but would I ever buy from them... think not, and I used to be a regular customer in my wealthier days.

I had a very similar experience with sketchers a few years ago - The first pair of trainers I bought from them - one had a very sharp metal piece/wire sticking out from the inside back bit of the trainer - they wouldn't do anything about it - ended up never purchasing anything from them since!

For Op I would try contacting the company first and see if they would do anything (they may not without receipt)
