Thetechguys support from Currys+PCWorld

Options
I have paid monthly for a long time now for this support but not called upon it yet. I have yesterday received a letter from them and I spotted mention of an annual PC tune-up which I had not noticed before. I am thinking of contacting them - does anyone have any knowledge of what this covers and whether it is any good. Have I just wasted my money all this time and should perhaps cancel the agreement before wasting any more? Thanks.

    yes

a repair to your computer by a competent local shop , even many repairs would cost less than what you are paying now.

bank the money , in 2 yrs or maybe 3 you will have enough to dump the present machine and buy a new one

The PC tuneup is an automated program which runs a number of maintenance things (checks for disk fragmentation, cleans up the disk, etc), optimises certain settings for faster performance, checks running programs and services and runs a virus scan.

Personally, I also check through installed programs and remove adware, ensure browsers don't have any add-ons that pop up adds, check through running services and start up programs, check task scheduler for anything that shouldn't be there, make sure drivers are up to date. And some other little things I can't recall right now. But I don't think any of that is officially in the process, so it might vary a bit depending where you go.

I don't think Gary Glitter would recommend them either.
