Help needed Priesley Crowe blackmailing

Hi
Hoping someone can help, I stupidly used priesley Crowe ppi claim company to claim back ppi which I wasn't sure if I had or not. Well back in December they sent me a letter stating that I needed to send back an up to date letter of authority which I never did. They have called me to say that as I didn't send this back within 14 days I owe them £2530.24 for work that has been done on the account. I told them I couldn't pay this they said my only option was to send the authority letter back to them and start cooperating with them and they would continue looking into my claims and not charge me the 2k charges. I really do not want this company doing this anymore and feel they are black mailing me into sending the letter of authority back.
Does anyone know where i stand? If I tell them to stop working they will charge me for the work already completed.
Please any advice would be appreciated.

What does your contract say?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I've asked for a copy of it but in their T&C is says something on the lines of if I want to cancel I will be charged for the work carried out. I feel so pressured by them!0

So they're doing what their T&C's suggest then ? Might be best to remove the 'blackmailing' part of your title :eek:0 -
They are blackmailing me by saying if I don't return the letter of authority I will have to pay 2k0

I think blackmailing is a bit strong. They have almost certainly been told by your creditors that their LOA is out of date and been asked for an up to date one. They are probably viewing your refusal to send one as non co-operation and in effect withdrawing from the contract. There is probably a clause in their contract that allows them to charge you for work carried out up to that point if you withdraw from the contract. I would not call enforcing a contractual term blackmail, though my guess is that they would struggle to prove that £2,5000 is a reasonable cost of work carried out.
I suggest you ask them for a copy of the signed terms and conditions and on what basis they consider they have the right to charge you £2,500. Without knowing what you have agreed to it is very difficult to comment any further.0 -
It maybe worth asking them why they allowed the original one to go out of date (if indeed there was an original one).0

That'll be £30.24 for the work and £2500 for the stamp0

I would ask them for a breakdown of the charge.
Ask them to justify that amount.0
