Quote for a porche tiling job.

Hi,

I've got quotes of around 150-180 pounds for a front entrance tiling job, this is just for labour no materials. The area is 7.5m sq. The tiling is on a brick, they say the plastering will take a day to dry out. We're a novice in this area, are the quotes are a fair price?

Thanks

Silly me I had visions of this lovely Porche with tiles stuck all over...:rotfl:

I take it the price is just the labour and you will be paying for the plaster, tiles etc? I think it sounds quite cheap for a two day job...

Yep we've got the tiles and grout etc, its over 2 brick walls, so as it needs plastering, does it take a day for it dry out? I ave no idea, just was wondering if the guy was trying to get 2 days work instead of 1.

Good afternoon: It sounds a fair price...the tiler will need to ensure that the surface to be tiled is sound and level so will take more than a day i.e prepare base, tile then grout. Always get 3 written quotes and compare like for like.

If none of the plastered wall is to be left un tiled, he can in fact just render the wall and tile straight onto that.

  • sounds like a good price, I assume your not in London!
Assuming the wall would be tiled from top to bottom this could be rendered or plastered(with bonding coat, an undercoat plaster) in under a day and subsequently ready to be tiled the next day after drying time..not sure how long the tiling would take as i'm a plaster myself but would say it sounds like a nice days work for a good tiler.
    all the best
