PIP Questions :)

Options
Hi all
I won my PIP appeal and have been awarded standard daily living from November of last year :)
How long does it usually take from date of decision to issue the backpayment and for the benefit to start to be paid? I rang and asked but they would only say what the standard timescales are so I wondered in practice what people's experiences were.

Also I know there's been threads about what else you're eligible for with a PIP award but I can't seem to find- anyone got a link or know of what else is available? I claim ESA Conts in the Support Group but I have a working partner so not entitled to that premium I know, I have a national concessionary travel pass and a Disabled Person's Coachcard, and I'm planning on a Disabled Persons' Railcard. Is there anything else?

Thanks in advance :)

Should be under a week for payment. I received payment one day after the letter came. That payment covered until the usual 4 weekly payment started about 2.5 wks later.
Mine was won on MC and the letter of award contained the payment dates

    Thanks :)
Ah I won at tribunal so I'm guessing that possibly takes a little longer. Still can't quite believe it!

In principle, they can consider if they want to appeal the decision. This may take several months before they decide, and the appeal might take another couple of months.

Them actually appealing the decision is unlikely in most cases.

I hope not! They did say they have 28 days to decide if they're going to appeal. I did however provide evidence to the Tribunals Service at the last minute which was not submitted to the DWP originally so I hope that doesn't put a spanner in the works....

And certainly- originally awarded six points on Daily Living and four on Mobility. Mobility unchanged but tribunal awarded eleven points on Daily Living.
I got two points each on budgeting and mixing with other people and one on managing medication on top of the six I had for washing/bathing, dressing and something else which I forget right now!

  • Hey lovely people, I put in my pip claim on the 3/06/2014, had my assessment last Wednesday, being over a year would they put claims in order of priority? Also, has anyone be successful with a claim for Depression and anxiety- mines fairly severe and it was clear when I got there being away from home was against what my body was telling me to do, I hate being like this, my family think Pip will really help? X
  • Congrats nice to hear some good news... Gives us all a bit of hope I spose x

Perhaps - but it doesn't really matter.
In general, the decision follows _very_ rapidly after the assessment nowadays.

For the success of a depression and anxiety claim, please see above- albeit at tribunal. Mine is mixed anxiety and depressive disorder as a result of cancer.
(Just as a sideline to those on here disgusted that a PIP award can be made for depression and anxiety, my award was made on the grounds of a cancer diagnosis and the overwhelming psychological effects it has caused me)
I got my phone call today from the DWP. Award letter being sent today, money will be in my account within 7 days. One week after tribunal date- impressed with how quickly it was done!
