AFAIK, it's not a full compatibility, especially in terms of macros.
Excel document with macros is likely not to work in OO.
And not running Macros is a bad thing ?

libreoffice and openoffice will probably break the formatting on excel spreadsheets. I used the open office word poressor and all the page breaks were wrong. 1 word [from ms office] page would appear on 1 & quarter page on openoffice.
Obviously formatting is critical for a lot of long documents.0 -
If my company was expecting me to do business work on my personal IT equipment, I'd be asking them to pay for any software I required to do so.0
