Do they do random compliance checks on a single to joint claim. They'd possibly catch many out who've only just moved in AKA lived together for years

How could she get TC's for so long. Surely the husband would have enrolled to vote. He should have been on the CT bill as a jointly liable party. Wasn't the husband on the tenancy or the deeds to the property? What about bank statements or credit card creating a credit file? Are you really saying the husband never had anything ever sent to this address for so long. I can't believe that...

They can check. There are databases out there with more information than you think. National Hunter for one.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

this has got to be a wind up? If not why has your 'friend' not told the tax credits, as your 'friend' is obviously aware that tax credits have not been informed and is condsidering not telling them!

Its called fraud, that can and hopefully end up in a court of law!

I hope the likes of concentrix find out......

  • You're having a giggle, right?

This is what gives us single mums a bad name - people who deliberately mislead HMRC, because they forget how damn difficult it is to bring up children when you have no-one else to lean on.

I've been investigated twice by Concentrix, despite having a perfectly correct claim as a self-employed, single mother. I would suggest your friends sucks it up, tells the truth and remembers to be grateful that she has someone else to rely on when the s**t hits the fan.
