DawnW - Yes, he is INDEED still up to his tricks. Having spent all day trying to get me to give him his dinner early, when it finally was his dinner time & I served up the food he positively gobbled this morning, he had about 2 mouthfuls & stomped off!! Cats!! Worst behaved one we've ever had, but very funny & cute too, in his own beat-up looking kind of way.

Ally - As ever, an impressive list. Hope the energy supplier will rebate you, I also really hope its a real saving. I think you may have seen my saga with First Utility, where they refunded me £300 last August, but then wacked it straight back on, which has put me in energy arrears trying to clear it ever since. I have 2 months to go till we clear it now.

I accidentally deleted a lot of the list I wrote earlier. Oops. :o

I'm with the Co-op for energy and I'm pretty satisfied with them. I was with NPower before (cold shiver) and they gave us nothing but a nightmare for the whole three months we were with them. Missing bills, "you're not a customer" etc and we had to get Ofgen onto them to make progress. In the end it took them 9 months to give us our first quarterly bill. Co-op will refund if you have more than two months payment stacked up in the account, however I had just under that before and I asked them nicely and they agreed. Co-op's call centre seems efficient and the website's not bad either, though not as good IMHO as the one that preceded it. Why do companies feel the need to 'upgrade' their websites every few months?

I'm with you there on the cats, Foxgloves, ours think that every time someone comes in the front door it's feeding time, even if they were only fed 5 minutes before.

Maria - the Mr T delivery is a lovely thought for someone that's struggling.

Bob - your upcoming break sounds bliss :)

I am quite jealous of all the vegetable growers (and the sub £4kers too!) I have never grown veggies because of my caterpillar phobia (though I accidentally hosed one out of my hebe the other day and didn't freak out.) When I was given a couple of free veggie seed kits (by the people whose offer I got the badge for *points left*, they messaged me privately to ask for my address to send a thank you gift) I gave them to my next door neighbour. Alas she doesn't get a lot of light in her back garden (on account of my house being in the way) so has sown them all in grow bags over every available surface in her front garden. I'm not sure if this will be a plus or minus point when selling my house

I don't want to go into too much detail but am having a bit of a poo time at the moment with my son and had to take today off to recupperate/try to sort things out. The upshot is that he missed his driving theory lesson and is still at a friends. I think we might be on the way to sorting it but I'm really teary and emotional today.

It's just over 18 months since my dad died and I remember having one day about a month after when I literally just couldn't stop crying, it was like someone had turned a tap on, and not even over my dad, over something else entirely. The same thing happened about 6 months later when someone criticised something I'd done at work (it was so embarrassing, not least of all because it was in the middle of a fire drill so I was standing outside Waitrose on High Holborn at the time :rotfl: ) Today is just the same, it really doesn't do any good trying to put a lid on it because it's going to find a way out somehow

On the moneysaving front, I have checked my bank balance and realised that now the academic year has come to an end and DS has officially left education my child benefit has stopped. On the bright side, prompted by Ally's posts I have looked into marriage allowance and we are eligible :T I'm sure though that my FIL, who does DH's accounts, is going to have something to say about it, at length probably.

Since we hope to move house soon I am toying with the idea of cancelling our boiler insurance for the next 3 months which would save £99. DH says it will be sod's law that the boiler will then break down. Could we be that unlucky? Maybe I'll check if we're due a service first.

I was planning on roasting a chicken tonight but it doesn't look like DS will be here so I will hold off until tomorrow plus DH took me for a late lunch to cheer me up a bit. We were destined for a Superflsh lunchtime special but they'd closed so we ended up in a cafe that has the rudest proprietor I've ever known, we never go there unless we absolutely have to and he bloomin' remembered us and commented 'long time, no see', oh, how tempted we were to tell him why!

Have a great rest of the day all :)

Great stuff. Foxgloves can take the credit for suggesting I might apply.

  • Hi would it be ok for me to join in?

    Today I have -
Air dried my hair, couldn't be bothered with hair dryer and straighteners (does look wild though) as I wasn't going anywhere, also means I saved on hair serum and didn't bother with make up again as not going anywhere.
    All meals from stores.
Scrumpied some raspberries, I think this is allowed as next doors plants are now growing into my garden, so picked everything on my side and will make a lemon and raspberry bread and butter pud tomorrow.
Redeemed £4 from pinec0ne. made sure I did most of the surveys in inbox and checked 0nep0ll regularly throughout the day.

    Think that's all for today.
