Hi All
Been up since 6 and picked lots of blackcurrants, well 2lb anyway, that are now in freezer waiting for my attention.
Checked and did poultry ready for me being away until sunday. Am off to visit sister for a few days and am very excited. Have arranged a Mr T order for her instead of flowers as a thank you. She is a dairy farmer and they have even less money than us. totally not funny for them.
Work has been manic, but now calming and desk cleared ready for 5 hours in a car leaving lovely Wales. May not get back on here until next week. If I am not posting, I hope at least, I am not spending! Fingers crossed. Apart from , ice creams, afternoon teas, suppers out, chocolate for DVD night, lunch with niece, lunch with any one I have ever met, etc, etc.
There is an eating theme going on here! May throw in a boat trip as well just for the holiday feeling.
Bye all
Maria. x
ps love the foxglove cutting down on groceries, I aim to try, but do get carried away. Am also taking knitting on holiday! Think Miss Marple goes north. Except I am fat, driving not on a train, and no one will be murdered.....0 -
Maria - Glad you are impressed with our plans to save some £50s off groceries. Before the LBM, mr f & I were shockingly bad with money. (If mr f said 'I've got £200', it didn't mean cash in his back pocket, it meant there was £200 space on one of his credit cards before it reached its limit!!) Our grocery shopping mostly used to be done at Waitrose & we had a notional budget of £80 per week, but regularly used to spend over £100. That was without the top up shops for treats, at least one take-away a week, more likely two, & enough lunches & coffees & cakes out over the month to fill the Albert Hall. I can still be a shocking pig, but I just couldn't go back to having all that 100% self-inflicted debt.
Have a lovely time while you're away. Glad you've got your knitting! Mine is here by my side. It WILL be finished today. I want to wear it, & I also need to get cracking with casting on my list of gifts for the present box.
OK, you will hear my needles clacking in about 30 seconds......

Afternoon all
Thanks for the start Ally (and for the links - I have applied for the perfume sample)
Your cat still up to his tricks then Foxgloves :rotfl: I am doing online weightwatchers, and still need to lose a stone or thereabouts too. I have got rid of my size 18 clothes, as well. I do NOT want them back
Well Maria, I am pleased to hear that nobody will be getting murdered while you are on holiday  :rotfl: Hope you have a great time
List for today:
Hoovered rug in lounge, and stair carpets, cleaned sink and tidied up
Unloaded sales unit stuff from my car and lugged it up two flights of stairs. Still need to put it away though!
Been to sales unit to tidy up and change some stock around (again)
Popped in to the weekly market while in town, and bought some tomatoes and some fish for dinner tonight
Done a few onepoll surveys
Received an email from postal surveys people to say that I have now been accepted for these, and they are preparing my first pack
HM food from stores. We toyed with the idea of going out for a meal tonight as it is our wedding anniversary. Decided not to bother, as we are usually disappointed (meals out ought to be better than we have at home, but that isn't my experience, sadly), it is a bore having to drive, OH is playing golf today and will be worn out when he gets back, and it would probably play havoc with my diet in any case. So I have found a nice baked fish recipe, and we will have that, with vegetables from the garden
Still to do:
Feed tomato, cucumber and French bean plants, and see if anything else wants watering
Cook supper
Put sales stuff away in the loft cupboard
Right, I had better get out in the garden, as it looks as though it might rain again - probably because the window cleaner has just been!0 -

Hi Everyone
A quiet day at work, home now & have just completed the milestone task of paying off CC2 in full, forever! It also puts me under the £4k mark for the first time in goodness knows how long. So thats a biggie too. I plan to do more debt slaying for August, but I need to be realistic too, so think I will proceed in stages.
Foxgloves - Thats a good approach on your groceries. And if you feel you are already doing it most months anyway, then making it formal and stretching your savings target is a great thing to do. Wish you all the best saving for your new car!
Someone else on a milestone moment - Princess! Well done you on CC1 being gone forever!
Floella - Glad baby is good. How did mortgage appointment go?
Maria - Miss Marple is cool. She rocked tweed didnt she. Have a great holiday.
Ally - As ever, an impressive list. Hope the energy supplier will rebate you, I also really hope its a real saving. I think you may have seen my saga with First Utility, where they refunded me £300 last August, but then wacked it straight back on, which has put me in energy arrears trying to clear it ever since. I have 2 months to go till we clear it now.
FVD had the same thing where she was told she had a £400 rebate when really it just meant no one had read her meter properly....Im sure you are not in the same boat, but I would just counsel checking 1 more time before asking for that balance.
P.S you were right about the Mr T thing. Im really excited to see how we do on vouchers!
Determined - Glad your childminder is being helpful & sympathetic. Worth their weight in gold a good one.
Twiggy - You need to fit a revolving door at your place with all these guests/lodgers coming throughhope OHs dad recovers well.
Dawn - Happy anniversary!!! How many years is that?
Lamarsi - Good for you keeping going!
Right well, have to help son go through his Trunki tonight to see if hes actually packed anything useful to wear over the coming 3 days away. I think he's excited about the holiday & seeing his grandparents. His biggest ask to OH is that they can go fishing whilst down there, so I really hope they can both make some memories. Im sad that I wont be able to join in, but excited about having the house to myself for 3 days, me, bump & cat will be good enough company for one another.
Right, off for now.
