Waiting for seller to send combined invoice

Bid and won two items on Ebay yesterday. I had previously asked seller about combining postage as they had four items I was interested in, ending over several days. Didn't get a reply before the first one ended.

I tried to ask for a combined invoice for the first two items (and leave a message to say I was going to bid on a further two items) and I got a message saying that this seller does not combine postage and it would not complete the process.

I have read and re read the two auctions and this fact is not mentioned. Am I stuck paying double postage for each separate item (the second is two sheets of paper which weighs hardly anything)? I have asked seller a question requesting a combined invoice but have not had a reply.

How long should I leave it? I do not want to get a non paying bidder strike. How do I know if a seller does not combing postage in future so I can avoid bidding on their auctions?

Unless a seller specifically states they will combine postage it is best to assume they won't .

However, if the seller does not combine postage then make sure you pay for each item separately.

I'm a seller, all items have free postage on.
If buyer wins two but pays seperately for each item, should i send seperate or is it ok to put in one package and use same tracking number for each item ?

If its free postage most buyers wont realise that someone had to pay for it, so no issues with sending in one packet.

Is it something you can drop a freebie in?

If they paid 2 lots of postage then you need more care, because they may want a discount or 2 parcels.

  • Seller had been away with no internet access. All sorted and paid now. Thanks for your replies.

i made the mistake a few times of bidding on 3 or 4 items from same seller , usually video games and thinking that they will combine postage and send together
had one recently won 4 console games and postage was showing £2.80 so i sent message can you combine and was rudley told no then they still send them alltogether
they do end up with mark down on postage charges though.

Well, I could be opening a can o worms here but...

It depends on the type of seller and the prices involved.

If they are 99p dvds or video games, and auction format, (which the seller believed were worth a lot more rightly or wrongly) the seller may be thinking you got a steal and their only consolation is that they make a little on the postage.

Secondly, for business sellers the margins on eBay are so tight now, that they may only make money on multiple purchases and make a loss when you buy one. So someone buys "two" and sends a message, "please combine postage". It happens all the time.

We also get messaged on a loss leader "please send first class instead of second as it's needed for a wedding tomorrow." I mean why did they not go to the most expensive seller and ask this and not the cheapest?

You can all throw tomatoes now. ;0
