P&O Mini Cruise - no customer service

Having specifically booked cruise R504 for my family of 4 in May to Guernsey for the VE day celebrations and Zeebrugge to visit Ypres, the itinerary was swopped days before so we missed the VE celebrations and then never got to even dock at Zeebrugge "due to bad weather" even though the ships weather forecast was moderate.
Having complained to P&O they used the "Health and Safety" card, not offering any compensation at all or even a discount on a future cruise to retain our custom. Clearly P&O have several staff monitoring their facebook page to "explain" and support P&Os corporate stance.
Several other passengers advised that they had been on mini-cruises before and the itinerary had been changed or cancelled. If this was a package holiday and you didn't get to your intended destination there would be uproar. However, be warned, on a cruise there is nothing you can do.
Very poor response from P&O ...guess the little people just don't matter.

If it's not safe to enter the port, they tend not to.

What else are they meant to do?
  • Have cruised with P&O a number of times and can honestly say I have never come across a company with such a high level of customer service so am really shocked to see your post. Whilst I appreciate your plans were messed up which is of course unfortunate and disappointing, P&O would be absolutely slaughtered if they ignored any warnings. Personally I appreciate them making sure that my health and safety is their No1 priority despite it not being so welcome by other travellers.
  • Sorry OP but my experience of P&O couldn't be more different.

Went on a mini cruise in March and on our way to Southampton we found out that boarding would be delayed as the ship couldn't dock to disembark the passengers that were on board. As a result we were given £30 each on board credit.

A few hours later were told that the start of the cruise was delayed by 24 hrs; we found our own hotel room but if you turned up at the dock then P&O not only found you a room and a bed for the night.

As compensation we were refunded 50% of the cruise as well as paying for the expenses we'd incurred (ie room and food). We received the cheques within a fortnight. This was in addition to the £60 on board credit we received

Everyone was apologetic and the only loss to the cruise was we lost a 'sea day'

If they can't safely dock what you suggest they do ?
