having recently bought a more upto date PC i would like to find a video editing program that i can use on all the various videos i have taken over the last few years.
its mostly concert & sports footage
its all saved on my external HDD just my old pc wasnt that fast or anything and simple things took ages.
currently have a i5-4470 with 8gb of ram
i do have an old copy of Sony Vegas Pro 2010 edition
basicially i have a mix of mobile and digital camera footage i want to edit & play around with and made one complete video for various events i have attended over the years

How much do you want to spend, there's stuff from free to eye wateringly expensive.
Here's a free one to play with:

Try Microsoft Movie Maker, it is free and works well for me.0

Lightworks is free lwks.com and industrial grade
Windows/Microsoft Movie Maker is simple and free
Vegas 2010 is perfectly decent
Let's face it, nothing much has actually changed ;-)0 -
If you've already got Sony Vegas then start by using that. Okay it may not have the latest bells and whistles, but you probably don't need them anyhow. Software doesn't go off - it works just the same today as it did when first released (subject to OS problems....).
The piece of software I use all the time is CorelDraw 9 - which came out in 1999. It runs on Windows7 just fine. I did do a trial of a newer version, but 90% of it was the same so I didn't see the point in paying for the new version. My postings reflect my lifetime's experience and my opinion. You are quite welcome to respond with your experiences and option, whether similar or different.0 -

Serif MoviePlus is an easy to learn program which supports all the formats I've tried with it. They usually have an offer that if you buy the previous version it's around £20 rather than £60ish.0

I use Adobe Premier Pro. And absolutely love it.
Although you might have to struggle a little when it renders on your spec machine.
Also make sure you copy the files from your external HDD to internal for fast loading and stuff.
If you want I can show you some of the videos I made using Adobe Premier. They are all on YouTube.
