0% on purchaces, what to do

Options
OK i am going to need to stick a few things on a cc over the next 2 or so months but i really dont want to be paying interest on it as it is gonna be hard enough to pay off as it is.
So my question...

I currently have a egg cc but the 0% ran out ages ago, i also have a lloyds tsb duo card with no 0%.

Now what is my best bet, i dont really want a 3rd card, and not sure i would be granted it anyway? If i phone up egg do you think they would let me have the 0% back on for a few months or will they just laugh?
If not who is the best people to apply to for a 0%?

ETA i have no balance to transfer

I don't think Egg will increase the 0%, but you can try. Depends on your credit rating whether or not to apply for another card. Your best bet is to apply for a card with 10-12 months 0% on purchases, as that gives you lots of time to pay off the card. How much do you plan to put onto the card?

Take a look at this site: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/cards/credit_card.asp , select '0% purchase' and then have a look at the cards on offer. Before you apply make sure you find out what kind of a credit history you need to be accepted for the card.

  • I've no idea what my credit history is but i have never been declined credit and all cards have been paid before interest has gone on.

Thanks for the link, i will have a look.

It's difficult when credit card companies don't tell you what's 'Good' and what's 'Excellent' credit score. However, it might be worth looking at Capital One's criteria, it might give you a rough in-sight.

  • hmm well going on that i am in "good" credit. Not excellent as i only work part time so don't earn the earth. But then i don't want a huge limit either.
