Halifax Clarity fiver?
Comments

The only card available now on the Halifax website seems to be the Clarity card, not the Clarity Reward card (both are blue and neither have the words, 'Clarity' or 'Reward' on them. How's that for clarity?).
They both have the excellent rates for transactions in foreign currency, but as I understand it only the old Clarity Reward card had the monthly fiver (and I did think, as SnowTiger said, that you needed a current account to qualify for the payment). Only one way to find out - spend over £300 for the next couple of months and see what happens.

That is very helpful - it was certainly not made clear to me when I took it out.
If you really want to get some USD cash before you leave, then you can get genuine "loading + fee free" USD/Euro cash at some Moneycorp ATMs using Clarity. In the usual way, you will pay interest (at a very modest rate) from the transaction date and this becomes pennies if you clear the balance (including any purchases) days later. So, it seems there really *are* two versions of the Clarity card, and you get one or the other dependant on your situation when you apply. You can't switch. When I got mine the reward version didn't exist. I got a call last night saying I'd been given wrong information, and I could not be moved to a version that pays £5/month. The only solution was to apply for a "secondary card" which I was told it was likely I'd be accepted for, but with a much lower limit. I could then transfer the larger limit to the new card and close the old. Why they can't just move me over I have absolutely no idea. Although the story keeps changing every time I speak to someone.0

But under "Common enquiries" for the Halifax Clarity credit card there's an entry:
"Where can I apply for the Clarity Rewards Credit Card?
Eligible customers can apply for the Clarity Rewards Card by visiting one of our branches."
implying that the Clarity credit card is not the same as the Clarity Rewards credit card.
