Broken wardrobe after three weeks

Hiya guys,
Just wanted to know my rights before I call them, brought a wardrobe from homebase with 3 doors for £250, on putting the wardrobe up the middle door's nails popped out damaging the wood but my partner managed to super glue it together but the door wouldn't shut properly but I'm under the impression they would of just sent us a new panel so rather then the hassle of my OH having to take it apart again we left it.
Roll on three weeks and the same has happened again...but to the third door!! This time it's unfixable as the hole it has left is just to much.
At this point I am really just wanting to return it (somehow?!) because even if they send us the two panels my partner just thinks it's a design flaw and the nails can't support the doors, so it's not going to last very long if the doors keep popping off....
Have we got a right to insist on a refund at this point or do we have to accept a replacement...?
...plus theirs the risk that now it's together taking it apart might cause damage in other places.

People don't know what they want until you show them.

If you're still within the 30 days (which with you saying three weeks I presume you are) see this from the homebase website. If there's a fault with the product...
Within 30 days
Phone us on 0345 077 8888 within 30 days to arrange a FREE collection.
We'll usually offer you a replacement or repair. Products must be accompanied by your proof of purchase**. This does not affect your statutory rights.
After 30 days but within one year of purchase

We'll usually be able to repair a product for you. If we can't offer a repair, we'll give you a replacement product. Products must be accompanied by your proof of purchase
Homebase have the right to choose how to remedy the situation so long as its not a substantial inconvenience to you i.e they can't take 6 months to repair the wardrobe. If you are desperate for a refund however I'd mention it to them when you ring - usually once you are put through to the resolution team they are pretty accommodating.0 -
If you had rejected it when you first put it up then you may have had the right to a full refund.
I would say after three weeks you have accepted it and they can now refund, repair or replace. Its up to Homebase which they decide.
Is there any way you have assembled it wrongly?0 -
Nails for the middle door? I would have expected hinges to be supplied with screws... is this where it failed? Can you better describe the bits that have failed, and how they have actually broken?0

as the guy above has said
i have yet to see a self assembly wardrobe or other piece of furniture come with nails, you may get panel pins to hold the back panel on but nails for a door?0 -
The door is fixed to the wardrobe with a hinge and the nails are to hold the metal hinge onto the actual wardrobe, the screws have popped out the actual wardrobe where it was holding the hinge in place for the door if that makes sense? So the door has come off but it's not the screws popping out the door but out the wardrobe itself.
Sorry I am a woman nail screws all the same thing to me lol!
The screws are very short in length, this morning I went to take a photo of the top bit that had broke on the third door and the whole door just came off in my hand so now it's off at all points I didn't even put any pressure on it I just simply opened it slightly to let more light in to take the picture, it's not an assembly issue they were screwed in properly and no trouble putting the third door up and all was well with it.
ANYWAY.
I just wanted to update this post, Homebase have gone above and beyond have said they will send someone to collect the wardrobe and replace, I said we would prefer a refund at this point as I believe as it has happened twice it's likey to happen again and they have offered to exchange it for another for up to a slightly higher value, whether they would of refunded or not I don't know but we still want a wardrobe so happy with the outcome.
Also I have to admit we got excellent service when we brought the product so I really haven't got a bad thing to say about them assuming this all goes smoothly now.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
They probably would of refunded if you pushed but it's better for them to make slightly less profit (on giving you the higher value) than refund something in the entirety.0
