Hi
My son has a levonex pc.
I use it from time to time to upload data to a shopping company.
Now whilst I am sure that I have not damaged it, he thinks otherwise. So here goes.
There is a working power supply to the computer.
I have take the power cord to maplins, and they have tested it and the power supply is ok.
When you try to switch the computer on,sometimes the power light goes on for a second or so, but it does not Power up the computer at all.
The rest of the time there seems to be no power reaching the computer.
I think that the on/off button may be faulty, but don't know how to check it
There is no tower with this desktop, it's all inside the screen.
Does anyone know what I can do. I don't want to be fiddling inside the computer.
Failing that can anyone recommend a computer repair p,ace) not curry or pic world, they damaged my laptop beyond repair) in the north bucks area where I can take it.Thanks in advance.

You haven't broken it. It sounds like one of the internal components has died. It could be the power supply in the computer. It could be the motherboard. If it is an all in one computer as you imply then it is harder to diagnose and fix as you can't easily open them up and test/replace components.0

Very unlikely anything you did is directly responsible (assuming uploading data isn't a euphemism for pouring coffee in the holes on top).
Frankly, those sealed all-in-one units are going to need someone competent and confident to look inside. Could be anything from dust to capacitor blowout to an internal fuse. I've not heard of the brand, so if it's a cheapie and/or getting a bit old, capacitor blowout or dead diode on power supply are possibly indicated.0 -
Whoops it's the iPad going into one, the computer is a Levonx, dust inside sounds a good shout, 21 years old and arrmagegdan happening in his bedroom.!SWAGBUCKS STTD 10/11/2013

Do you mean a Lenovo instead of prescription drug names ?
Chances are that the power supply unit inside the PC may have developed a fault however there are a number of things that could cause this behaviour and it's a process of elimination that a good local independent computer technician will be able to solve for you.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
I think your son just wants a new PC and wants you to pay for it - tell him to take a hike!0

Do you have the model number of the PC? Check the back of the computer, taking a clear picture of the information if possible, then upload the picture for us to view.
From what you've described, I think you have a motherboard problem. Possibly something has been come loose inside, because heat in small places can cause some components to expand perhaps enough to become very slightly disconnected.
If it's not the motherboard and everthing seems well connected, then it could well be the power supply. But usually these go dramatially - ie: pops, bangs and blue flashes.0 -

Thanks for all your advice it's an all in one computer, had a guy out to look at it and he won't touch it, I have found a repair shop that will take a look foc and give me a quote. So just need to get it over to them.SWAGBUCKS STTD 10/11/2013
