Wearing trousers to a christening?

I've been asked to be a godparent to a friends baby and I'm really lost for what to wear, I always feel happiest in trousers so I would like to buy a smart pair of navy trousers with a lace top and dress it up with nice heels and jewellery but I'm not sure whether I might be a bit underdressed as I'm not just a guest.

Any advice/opinions would be appreciated.

I think not wearing the trousers would be underdressed.

Haha I mean trousers with top or a dress obviously.

That outfit sounds lovely - would you think the men were underdressed too by coming in trousers? Wear whatever you are comfortable in, and I think a well fitted pair of navy trousers would look much smarter than some dresses.

    I agree.

The outfit you describe does sound lovely and I do not understand why you seem to think you should wear a dress/skirt.

I wear trousers to weddings, funerals and christenings. I am comfortable, and at the end of the day think no one is really interested in me. As long as you look clean and tidy who cares.

Trousers look fine, if you've got a slim figure.

Skirts tend to look more flattering on larger ladies, but wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

As long as you don't go along in jeans and a t-shirt I'm sure no-one will mind what you wear.

  • How about a jumpsuit? I think they look very dressy and classy.

Warehouse has some lovely ones in navy I've been eyeing up

but there will be a lot of similar styles elsewhere.

I also think navy trousers and a lace top will look gorgeous :)

Jumpsuits are smart (if you're tall and slim) but a bit impractical. I remember them from the 70s :rotfl: Going to the toilet was a real kerfuffle.

Only if it left an obvious stain. :rotfl:
