Tracking down solicitors in charge of wills

How can I find out what solicitors are managing someone's will. I think I am a beneficiary but have not received any notification and some time has now passed. The will is being disputed by some relatives that have appeared and I don't know them as they are not local. I thought about phoning round, but that may involve contacting 200 possible practices, not exactly easy. I live in Scotland, so Scots Law is in force over the execution of this will. Any suggestions gratefully received.

  • I don't know much about the process of confirmation (as probate is called in Scotland).

If confirmation has been granted you can buy a copy of the will yourself and find out if you are named as a beneficiaty and find out who confirmation has been granted to.
This seems to be the page you need:
    https://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/taking-action/frequently-asked-questions/your-questions-on-dealing-with-a-deceased%27s-estate

If there is a dispute it may have prevented confirmation being granted.

Even if confirmation has been granted to someone, I can't see any distribution of the estate happening until any dispute is settled. You may have a long time to wait ...
