I am trying to identify the payee on a cheque I wrote in 2008 I have the relevant bank statement but not the cheque book. Would the bank be able to tell me?

You can ask the question but they may no longer have the records, given that it was over 6 years ago.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

You can try, as another as said, the information may not be kept this long. And it's possible you will be charged.0 -
Unless the bank has either retained the cheque or an image of it then they may only have the details required to make the payment, i.e. the sortcode and account number. Whether those would be any help only you can say. And as Armorica says, expect to have to pay for any information to be provided - they may be able to charge the actual cost of retrieving it, which could be quite high if they have to recover the cheque from remote storage.0

Thanks all for the replies. I'll ask the bank (Barclays) but without any expectations.'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'
