a Crew member can do anything while a Customer service assistant can only take orders?
    not sure
    are they paid the same?

To be fair, I've just read it and they don't tell you what a Customer Care Assistant does.

So, I say it is difficult.

Crew member you can understand: serve food, do some cleaning, do some customer service ....

Customer service .... you have to like talking to people.

Not descriptive or informative at all!

We must be looking at different pages ...

You keep the area clean and tidy. You respond to any problems the customers may have away from the counter - my order is wrong, the toilets are dirty, there's no spare serviettes.

What is difficult to understand about that?

I've failed to find that description. The page for Customer Care Assistant says:

Do you feel comfortable talking to new people? Do you feel energised when you help people? If the answer is yes to both of these questions you could be a great Customer Care Assistant in one of our restaurants. If you enjoy working as part of a team and exceeding customers' expectations you could help us deliver a great customer experience for the millions of people who visit our restaurants each day.

Mind you, the Crew Member page is equally vague:

What does it mean to be a Crew Member? Teamwork and great customer service. You'll become part of a restaurant team that works together to provide the best family restaurant experience possible.

Customer Care Assistants have the important job of ensuring that our customers visit to McDonald’s is an enjoyable one. You’ll be responsible for looking after our customers in the dining areas, making sure that they are dining in a clean and welcoming environment.

    And...

A Crew Member has three main responsibilities: Customer Service, Food Preparation and Cleanliness and Hygiene.

That's means you'll be working on the till taking orders, preparing food and keeping the place clean.

Customer Service are the ones that clear the tables and organize the queues, and a Crew Member are the ones that serve behind the counter (I did this for a few months in 2011).

Customer service is "front of house" eg in front of the counter- Crew members do everything behind the counter.

Crew member is more varied and has more transferrable skills.
