BT Broadband icon missing

My computer crashed & hopefully all is well now. I have outlook express but my bt broadband icon is missing & bt isn't in my programmes. I've done loads of searches but have no idea how to get it back. The last resort is to phone but if I can get it back without having to do this it would help.
any advice would be appreciated

It depends on how you physically connect to BT broadband. If it's using a modem/router, connected to your pc using a network cable (looks like a slightly larger modem cable with a plastic clip to hold it in) then you don't need the BT icon, all the settings are already in the router, you just plug in, start Internet Explorer & away you go. You'll need to set up your e-mail accounts in Outlook Express - go to the BT homepage & look for e-mail settings - I seem to remember they do a walkthrough to show you how to do it.
If, however, it connects using USB then it is just a modem & you will need the original disk that came with it in order to load the drivers - you will need your username & password at some point.0 -
Thanks Tallymanjohn. I'ts the BT homehub, just the drivers are on the cd & it doesn't show my hub. I'll look at the walkthrough, Thanks again0

The BT homehub definitely doesn't need drivers. If you open your web browser & type 192.168.1.254 (I think it's this anyway, check the documentation on the cd to be sure) this should get you into the settings for the hub - there you can check that you have something in the username & password boxes (BT doesn't use specific usernames & passwords come to think of it, as long as it's in the form bt_user@btbroadband.com & the password can be anything, as long as it's there).
