SORN a car and refund ?
Apologies where this may have been covered on another thread :
Have a SORN question.
am generally familiar with it; but where i am unsure is:
if i tax my car for say 6 months ,but possibly after 6 weeks i decide to SORN it- do i get an automatic refund of the 4 months rfl effectively not used, or have i simply lost out on it ? ( in which case not much point in sorning it )
i would think logically-a refund is due-but i am not sure.
(and is the refund automatic via DVLA or do i have to physically do something ? )
can anyone provide definitive answer.
thank you

If you're thinking of doing that I would recommend paying VED monthly...then if you SORN no further payment is needed and you don't get a refund as you haven't paid anything in advance except for the current month which you don't get back anyway.
Note if you tax for 6 months now it's from the 1st July to 31st December. Monthly is cheaper....
If you SORN in 6 weeks you have to pay for July, August and September so only get 3 months back.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
